ಮಾತು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಕರಿ ಕೃಪಾ ಕರೋ ಹೃದಯ ಮೇಂ ವಾಸ ।
ಮನೋ ಕಾಮನಾ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಕರ ಪುರವಹು ಮೇರೀ ಆಸ ॥
O Mother Lakshmi, please bestow your grace and reside in my heart. Fulfill my mental desires and complete my hopes.
ಸಿಂಧು ಸುತಾ ವಿಷ್ಣುಪ್ರಿಯೇ ನತ ಶಿರ ಬಾರಂಬಾರ ।
ಋದ್ಧಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಿ ಮಂಗಲಪ್ರದೇ ನತ ಶಿರ ಬಾರಂಬಾರ ॥ ಟೇಕ ॥
O daughter of the ocean, beloved of Vishnu, I bow my head repeatedly. O bestower of prosperity, accomplishments, and auspiciousness, I bow my head repeatedly.
ಸಿನ್ಧು ಸುತಾ ಮೈಂ ಸುಮಿರೌಂ ತೋಹೀ । ಜ್ಞಾನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾ ದೋ ಮೋಹಿ ॥
O daughter of the ocean, I remember you. Grant me knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom.
ತುಮ ಸಮಾನ ನಹಿಂ ಕೋಈ ಉಪಕಾರೀ । ಸಬ ವಿಧಿ ಪುರಬಹು ಆಸ ಹಮಾರೀ ॥
There is no benefactor equal to you. Fulfill our hopes in every way.
ಜೈ ಜೈ ಜಗತ ಜನನಿ ಜಗದಮ್ಬಾ । ಸಬಕೇ ತುಮಹೀ ಹೋ ಸ್ವಲಮ್ಬಾ ॥
Victory, victory to the Mother of the world, Jagadamba. You alone are the support of everyone.
ತುಮ ಹೀ ಹೋ ಘಟ ಘಟ ಕೇ ವಾಸೀ । ವಿನತೀ ಯಹೀ ಹಮಾರೀ ಖಾಸೀ ॥
You alone reside in every heart. This is my special prayer to you.
ಜಗ ಜನನೀ ಜಯ ಸಿನ್ಧು ಕುಮಾರೀ । ದೀನನ ಕೀ ತುಮ ಹೋ ಹಿತಕಾರೀ ॥
Victory to the mother of the world, daughter of the ocean. You are the benefactor of the destitute.
ವಿನವೌಂ ನಿತ್ಯ ತುಮಹಿಂ ಮಹಾರಾನೀ । ಕೃಪಾ ಕರೌ ಜಗ ಜನನಿ ಭವಾನೀ ॥
I pray to you daily, O great queen. Bestow your grace, O mother of the world, Bhavani.
ಕೇಹಿ ವಿಧಿ ಸ್ತುತಿ ಕರೌಂ ತಿಹಾರೀ । ಸುಧಿ ಲೀಜೈ ಅಪರಾಧ ಬಿಸಾರೀ ॥
How should I sing your praises? Remember me and forget my offenses.
ಕೃಪಾ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಚಿತವೋ ಮಮ ಓರೀ । ಜಗತ ಜನನಿ ವಿನತೀ ಸುನ ಮೋರೀ ॥
Cast a glance of grace towards me. O mother of the world, listen to my prayer.
ಜ್ಞಾನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಜಯ ಸುಖ ಕೀ ದಾತಾ । ಸಂಕಟ ಹರೋ ಹಮಾರೀ ಮಾತಾ ॥
O giver of knowledge, intelligence, victory, and happiness, O Mother, remove our afflictions.
ಕ್ಷೀರ ಸಿಂಧು ಜಬ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಮಥಾಯೋ । ಚೌದಹ ರತ್ನ ಸಿಂಧು ಮೇಂ ಪಾಯೋ ॥
When Vishnu churned the milky ocean, fourteen gems were found in the ocean.
ಚೌದಹ ರತ್ನ ಮೇಂ ತುಮ ಸುಖರಾಸೀ । ಸೇವಾ ಕಿಯೋ ಪ್ರಭುಹಿಂ ಬನಿ ದಾಸೀ ॥
Among the fourteen gems, you are the mine of happiness. You became a servant and served the Lord.
ಜಬ ಜಬ ಜನ್ಮ ಜಹಾಂ ಪ್ರಭು ಲೀನ್ಹಾ । ರೂಪ ಬದಲ ತಹಂ ಸೇವಾ ಕೀನ್ಹಾ ॥
Wherever and whenever the Lord took birth, you changed your form and served Him there.
ಸ್ವಯಂ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಜಬ ನರ ತನು ಧಾರಾ । ಲೀನ್ಹೇಉ ಅವಧಪುರೀ ಅವತಾರಾ ॥
When Vishnu Himself took a human form and incarnated in the city of Ayodhya...
ತಬ ತುಮ ಪ್ರಕಟ ಜನಕಪುರ ಮಾಹೀಂ । ಸೇವಾ ಕಿಯೋ ಹೃದಯ ಪುಲಕಾಹೀಂ ॥
Then you manifested in Janakpur and served Him, your heart thrilled with joy.
ಅಪನಾಯೋ ತೋಹಿ ಅನ್ತರ್ಯಾಮೀ । ವಿಶ್ವ ವಿದಿತ ತ್ರಿಭುವನ ಕೀ ಸ್ವಾಮೀ ॥
The knower of hearts (Vishnu) adopted you, the globally renowned Lord of the three worlds.
ತುಮ ಸಬ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಶಕ್ತಿ ನಹಿಂ ಆನೀ । ಕಹಁ ತಕ ಮಹಿಮಾ ಕಹೌಂ ಬಖಾನೀ ॥
Your great power is unparalleled. How far can I describe your glory?
ಮನ ಕ್ರಮ ವಚನ ಕರೈ ಸೇವಕಾಈ । ಮನ-ಇಚ್ಛಿತ ವಾಂಛಿತ ಫಲ ಪಾಈ ॥
Whoever serves you with mind, deeds, and words, attains their desired fruits.
ತಜಿ ಛಲ ಕಪಟ ಔರ ಚತುರಾಈ । ಪೂಜಹಿಂ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಁತಿ ಮನ ಲಾಈ ॥
Abandoning deceit, fraud, and cleverness, those who worship you in various ways with a focused mind...
ಔರ ಹಾಲ ಮೈಂ ಕಹೌಂ ಬುಝಾಈ । ಜೋ ಯಹ ಪಾಠ ಕರೇ ಮನ ಲಾಈ ॥
And I will explain another state: whoever recites this text with a focused mind...
ತಾಕೋ ಕೋಈ ಕಷ್ಟ ನ ಹೋಈ । ಮನ ಇಚ್ಛಿತ ಫಲ ಪಾವೈ ಫಲ ಸೋಈ ॥
No distress will come to them, and they will attain the exact desired fruit.
ತ್ರಾಹಿ-ತ್ರಾಹಿ ಜಯ ದುಃಖ ನಿವಾರಿಣೀ । ತ್ರಿವಿಧ ತಾಪ ಭವ ಬಂಧನ ಹಾರಿಣಿ ॥
Save me, save me, O destroyer of sorrows! Victory to the destroyer of the three types of miseries and worldly bonds!
ಜೋ ಯಹ ಚಾಲೀಸಾ ಪಢ़ೇ ಔರ ಪಢ़ಾವೇ । ಇಸೇ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಲಗಾಕರ ಸುನೇ ಸುನಾವೈ ॥
Whoever reads or makes others read this Chalisa, or listens or makes others listen to it attentively...
ತಾಕೋ ಕೋಈ ನ ರೋಗ ಸತಾವೈ । ಪುತ್ರ ಆದಿ ಧನ ಸಮ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಪಾವೈ ॥
No disease will ever trouble them; they will attain children, wealth, and property.
ಪುತ್ರ ಹೀನ ಔರ ಸಮ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಹೀನಾ । ಅನ್ಧಾ ಬಧಿರ ಕೋಢ़ೀ ಅತಿ ದೀನಾ ॥
Those who are sonless, devoid of wealth, blind, deaf, leprous, or extremely destitute...
ವಿಪ್ರ ಬೋಲಾಯ ಕೈ ಪಾಠ ಕರಾವೈ । ಶಂಕಾ ದಿಲ ಮೇಂ ಕಭೀ ನ ಲಾವೈ ॥
Should call a Brahmin and have this recited, never bringing any doubt into their heart.
ಪಾಠ ಕರಾವೈ ದಿನ ಚಾಲೀಸಾ । ತಾ ಪರ ಕೃಪಾ ಕರೈಂ ಗೌರೀಸಾ ॥
If one has it recited for forty days, the Lord of Gauri (Shiva) will bestow grace upon them.
ಸುಖ ಸಮ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಬಹುತ ಸೀ ಪಾವೈ । ಕಮೀ ನಹೀಂ ಕಾಹೂ ಕೀ ಆವೈ ॥
They will attain immense happiness and wealth, and no shortage will ever come to them.
ಬಾರಹ ಮಾಸ ಕರೈ ಜೋ ಪೂಜಾ । ತೇಹಿ ಸಮ ಧನ್ಯ ಔರ ನಹಿಂ ದೂಜಾ ॥
Whoever performs worship for twelve months, there is no one else as blessed as them.
ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಪಾಠ ಕರೈ ಮನ ಮಾಹೀಂ । ಉನ ಸಮ ಕೋಈ ಜಗ ಮೇಂ ನಾಹಿಂ ॥
Whoever recites it daily in their mind, there is no one like them in the world.
ಬಹು ವಿಧಿ ಕ್ಯಾ ಮೈಂ ಕರೌಂ ಬಡ़ಾಈ । ಲೇಯ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಲಗಾಈ ॥
How much more can I praise you in various ways? Take a test by focusing your mind.
ಕರಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಕರೈಂ ವ್ರತ ನೇಮಾ । ಹೋಯ ಸಿದ್ಧ ಉಪಜೈ ಉರ ಪ್ರೇಮಾ ॥
Perform vows and rules with faith, it will become successful and love will arise in the heart.
ಜಯ ಜಯ ಜಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಮಹಾರಾನೀ । ಸಬ ಮೇಂ ವ್ಯಾಪಿತ ಜೋ ಗುಣ ಖಾನೀ ॥
Victory, victory, victory to the great queen Lakshmi, who is the mine of virtues pervading in all.
ತುಮ್ಹರೋ ತೇಜ ಪ್ರಬಲ ಜಗ ಮಾಹೀಂ । ತುಮ ಸಮ ಕೋಉ ದಯಾಲ ಕಹೂಁ ನಾಹೀಂ ॥
Your radiance is powerful in the world; there is no one as merciful as you anywhere.
ಮೋಹಿ ಅನಾಥ ಕೀ ಸುಧಿ ಅಬ ಲೀಜೈ । ಸಂಕಟ ಕಾಟಿ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಮೋಹಿ ದೀಜೇ ॥
Now, please take care of me, an orphan. Remove my distress and grant me devotion.
ಭೂಲ ಚೂಕ ಕರೀ ಕ್ಷಮಾ ಹಮಾರೀ । ದರ್ಶನ ದೀಜೈ ದಶಾ ನಿಹಾರೀ ॥
Forgive our mistakes and omissions. Give me your vision, observing my state.
ಬಿನ ದರಶನ ವ್ಯಾಕುಲ ಅಧಿಕಾರೀ । ತುಮಹಿಂ ಅಕ್ಷತ ದುಃಖ ಸಹತೇ ಭಾರೀ ॥
Without your vision, this rightful one is restless. Remaining intact, I am bearing immense sorrow.
ನಹಿಂ ಮೋಹಿಂ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಹೈ ತನ ಮೇಂ । ಸಬ ಜಾನತ ಹೋ ಅಪನೇ ಮನ ಮೇಂ ॥
There is no knowledge or intelligence in my body, but you know everything in your own mind.
ರೂಪ ಚತುರ್ಭುಜ ಕರಕೇ ಧಾರಣ । ಕಷ್ಟ ಮೋರ ಅಬ ಕರಹು ನಿವಾರಣ ॥
Taking a four-armed form, please relieve my distress now.
ಕಹಿ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮೈಂ ಕರೌಂ ಬಡ़ಾಈ । ಜ್ಞಾನ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಮೋಹಿಂ ನಹಿಂ ಅಧಿಕಾಈ ॥
In what ways can I praise you? I do not have much knowledge and intelligence.
ರಾಮದಾಸ ಅಬ ಕಹೈ ಪುಕಾರೀ । ಕರೋ ದೂರ ತುಮ ವಿಪತಿ ಹಮಾರೀ ॥
Ramadas now calls out: Please remove our calamities.
ತ್ರಾಹಿ ತ್ರಾಹಿ ದುಃಖ ಹಾರಿಣೀ ಹರೋ ಬೇಗಿ ಸಬ ತ್ರಾಸ ।
ಜಯತಿ ಜಯತಿ ಜಯ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ಕರೋ ಶತ್ರುನ ಕಾ ನಾಶ ॥
Save me, save me, O destroyer of sorrow, quickly remove all fears! Victory, victory, victory to Lakshmi, destroy the enemies!
ರಾಮದಾಸ ಧರಿ ಧ್ಯಾನ ನಿತ ವಿನಯ ಕರತ ಕರ ಜೋರ ।
ಮಾತು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ ದಾಸ ಪರ ಕರಹು ದಯಾ ಕೀ ಕೋರ ॥
