Contemplating the Shashti, the Lord of Sharavana Bhava,
ஶிஷ்டருக்குதவும் ஶெங்கதிர் வேலோந்
The radiant spear-wielder who assists the righteous,
பாதமிரண்டில் பந்மணிச் சதங்கை
(May He) appear with the multi-jeweled anklets upon His two feet.

May the bells chime and the holy songs be sung.
மைய நடநம் செய்யும் மயில் வாஹநநார் (5)

கொல்லிவாய் பேய்கலும் குறலைப் பேய்கலும்
May the child-consuming forest sages, the fire-mouthed demons, and the whispering devils be destroyed.
பெண் கலைத்தொடரும் ப்ரம்மராச்சதரும்
May the Brahma-rakshasas that torment women be destroyed.
அடியநைக்கண்டால் அலறிக்கலங்கிட
May they all scream and tremble in fear upon seeing me, your devotee.
இரிஶிகாட்டேரி இத்துந்ப ஶேநையும்
May the fierce forest fires and all related torments be destroyed.
எல்லிநும் இருட்டிலும் எதிர்படும் அண்ணரும் (115)
கநபூஶை கொல்லும் காலியோடநைவரும்
May those who appear in the shadows and the darkness, and the deities of dark rituals that cause death, all be destroyed.
விட்டாங்காரரும் மிகுபல பேய்கலும்
Those who cast spells and the multitude of terrifying demons.
தண்டியகாரரும் சண்டாலர்கலும்
Those who inflict punishments and the wicked outcasts.
எந் பெயர் ஶொல்லவும் இடிவிலு’ந் தொடிட
At the mere mention of my name, may they shatter and flee in terror.
ஆநையடியிநில் அரும்பாவைகலும் (120)
பூநை மயிரும் பில்லைகல் எந்பும்
The dolls buried under the elephant’s footprint, cat hair, and remnants of offspring.
நகமும் மயிரும் நீல்முடி மண்டையும்
Nails, hair, and skulls with long locks.
பாவைகலுடநே பலகலஶத்துடந்
Effigies together with various ritual vessels.
மநையிற் புதைத்த வஞ்ஜநை தநையும்
The malicious sorcery buried within the house.
ஒட்டிய பாவையும் ஒட்டிய ஶெருக்கும் (125)
காஶும் பணமும் காவுடந் ஶோரு'ம்
The dolls stuck together, the arrogance of such enchantments, money, coins, and the food offered in rituals.
ஓதுமஞ்ஜநமும் ஒருவலி’ப் போக்கும்
The magical ointments and the paths taken by these evil forces.
அடியநைக்கண்டால் அலைந்து குலைந்திட
May they all scatter and be destroyed the moment they behold me, your devotee.
மாட்ரார் வஞ்சகர் வந்து வணங்கிட
May my enemies and those who harbor deceit come before me and bow down in surrender.
காலதூதால் எநைக் கண்டால் கலங்கிட (130)
அஞ்ஜி நடுங்கிட அரண்டு புரண்டிட
May the messengers of death tremble in fear upon seeing me, becoming terrified, shaking, and falling to the ground in confusion.
வாய்விட்டலறி மதிகெட்டோட
May they cry out aloud in despair and lose their sense of reason.
படியிநில் முட்டப்பாஶக்கயிட்ரால்
May they be bound firmly with the ropes of Yama, crashing down upon the earth.
கட்டுடந் அங்கம் கதறிடக்கட்டு
May their limbs be tightly restrained so that they cry out in agony.
கட்டி யுருட்டு கால் கைமுறிய (135)
கட்டு கட்டு கதறிடக்கட்டு
Bind them, roll them over, break their hands and feet; bind them securely and restrain their cries.
முட்டு முட்டு முலி’கல் பிதுங்கிட
Strike them again and again until their eyes pop out in terror.
செக்கு செக்கு செதில் செதிலாக
Crush them, grind them, and tear them into shreds.
சொக்கு சொக்கு ஶூர்ப்பகை சொக்கு
Bewilder and daze them, strike down the enemy Soorapadman, and cast a spell of confusion upon him.

பட்ரு பட்ரு பகலவந் தணலெரி
Pierce and stab them with your sharp Vel; seize them and burn them like the fire of the sun.

Burn, burn, let them be consumed by fire.
விடுவிடு வேலை வெருண்டது ஓட
Release, release, let the Vel strike so they flee in terror.
புலியும் நரியும் புந்நரி நாயும்
Tigers, jackals, and stray dogs.
எலியும் கரடியும் இநித்தொடர்ந்தோட (145)
தேலும் பாம்பும் ஶெய்யாந் பூராந்
Mice, bears, and those that follow in pursuit; scorpions, snakes, centipedes, and millipedes.
கடிவிட விஷங்கல் கடித்துய ரங்கம்
May the pain from their venomous bites be alleviated and subside.
ஏறிய விஷங்கல் எலிதுடந் இரங்க
May the injected toxins be easily neutralized and drained away.
ஒலுப்பும் சுலுக்கும் ஒருதலை நோயும்
Sprains, twists, and unilateral headaches.
வாதம் ஶயித்தியம் வலிப்புப்பித்தம் (150)
ஶூலை ஸயங்குந்மம் ஶொக்குச் சிறங்கு
Rheumatism, indigestion, epilepsy, biliousness, colic, chronic diseases, and skin afflictions.
குடைச்சல் ஶிலந்தி குடல்விப் பிருதி
Throbbing pains, spider-venom effects, and intestinal disorders.
பக்கப்பிலவை படர்தொடை வாலை’
Lateral abscesses, spreading ulcers, and chronic sores.
கடுவந் படுவந் கைத்தால் ஶிலந்தி
May the venomous creatures, the biting insects, and the spiders that cause harm,
பற்குத்து அரணை பரு அரை யாப்பும் (155)
எல்லாப்பிணியும் எந்றநைக்கண்டால்
And all forms of diseases, distress, and binding afflictions,
நில்லா தோட நீயெநக்கருல்வாய்
Upon seeing me, vanish instantly; I beseech your grace for this protection.

O son of the Krittika stars, O Lord adorned with the Kadamba garland!

You are my Father, it is your duty to forgive me, along with your consort, Valli, who is like a mother to me.
பில்லை யெந்றந்பாய்ப் பிரியமலித்து
Look upon me with affection, considering me as your own child.
மைந்தந் எந் மீது உந் மநமகில்’ந்தருலி
Shower your grace upon me, your son, with a joyful heart.

கந்தர் ஷஷ்டி கவசம் இதநை (205)
சிந்தை கலங்காது தியாநிப்பவர்கல்
Those who meditate on this Kanda Shashti Kavasam without any mental wavering or agitation—
ஒருநால் முப்பத்தாரு'ருக்கொண்டு
By reciting it thirty-six times in a single day—
ஒதியே ஜெபித்து உகந்து நீறணிய
And by chanting it with joy while applying the sacred ash (vibhuthi),
அஷ்டதிக்குல்லோரடங்கலும் வஶமாய்
They shall gain control and influence over all the eight directions.
திஶை மந்நரெண்மர் ஶெயலதருலுவர் (210)
மாட்ரலரெல்லாம் வந்து வணங்குவர்
The eight guardians of the directions will grant their blessings, and all enemies will come to bow before them.
நவகோல் மகில்’ந்து நந்மை யலித்திடும்
The nine planets will rejoice and shower their benevolence and goodness upon them.
நவமத நெநவும் நல்லெலி’ல் பெரு'வர்
They will attain great wisdom, good fortune, and bright renown.
எந்த நாலும் ஈரெட்டாய் வால்’வர்
They shall flourish and live long, prospering in all their endeavors.
கந்தர் கைவேலாம் கவசத்தடியை (215)
வலி’யாய் காண மெய்யாய் விலங்கும்
Truly, the shield of the victorious spear of Lord Kanda shall manifest its power to protect them, standing firm and effulgent.
விலி’யாற்காண வெருண்டிடும் பேய்கல்
Evil spirits and ghosts that witness the sight of Your bow tremble in fear.
பொல்லா தவரைப்பொடிபொடியாக்கும்
You grind the wicked and those who commit evil deeds into dust.
நல்லோர் நிநைவில் நடநம் புரியும்
You perform a divine dance in the thoughts of the virtuous.
ஸர்வ ஸத்துரு ஸங்கா ரத்தடி (220)
அறிந்தெநதுல்லம் அஷ்டலக்ஷ்மிகலில்
You are the one who destroys all enemies; knowing this, I keep You within my heart, among the eight forms of Lakshmi.
வீரலக்ஷ்மிக்கு விருந்துணவாக
You are the feast and sustenance for the Goddess of Valor (Veera Lakshmi).
ஶூர பத்மாவைத்துணித்தகை யதநால்
Because You severed the demon Surapadman,
இருவத்தேல்’வர்க்கு உவந்தமுதலித்த
You became the source of joy and grace for the twenty-seven celestial beings.
குருபரந் பல’நிக் குந்றில் இருக்கும் (225)
சிந்நக்குல’ந்தை ஶேவடி போட்ரி
I praise the red lotus-like feet of the divine Guru, the radiant child who resides upon the hill of Palani.
எநைத்தடுத்தாட்கொல எந்றநதுல்லம்
Come and rule over me, capturing my soul,
மேவிய வடிவுரு'ம் வேலவா போட்ரி
O Lord of the Vel, who dwells within my heart—I offer my praise to You.
தேவர்கல் ஸேநாபதியே போட்ரி
Glory to the Commander-in-Chief of the celestial army.
குறமகல் மநமகில்’ கோவே போட்ரி (230)
திறமிகு திவ்விய தேகா போட்ரி
Glory to the Lord who delights the heart of Valli, the daughter of the Kuravas; glory to the Lord with the divinely magnificent form.
இடும்பா யுதநே இடும்பா போட்ரி
Glory to You, who accompanied Idumban, and glory to Idumban himself.
கடம்பா போட்ரி கந்தா போட்ரி
Glory to the wearer of the Kadamba flower, glory to Skanda.
வெட்சி புநையும் வேலே போட்ரி
Glory to the Vel, which is adorned with the Vetchi flowers.
உயர்கிரி கநகஸபைக்கோரரஶே (235)
மயில்நடமிடுவொய் மலரடி ஶரணம்
O King of the high golden hall, O Lord who dances upon the peacock, I seek refuge at Your lotus feet.
ஶரணம் ஶரணம் ஶரவண பவ ௐ
I seek refuge, I seek refuge, O Sharavanabhava, Om.
ஶரணம் ஶரணம் ஷண்முகா ஶரணம் ॥ (238)
I seek refuge, I seek refuge, O Shanmuga, I seek refuge.
