Shri Maha Saraswati Sahasranama Stotram
ध्यानम्
श्रीमच्चन्दनचर्चितोज्ज्वलवपुः शुक्लाम्बरा मल्लिका-
मालालालित कुन्तला प्रविलसन्मुक्तावलीशोभना ।
सर्वज्ञाननिधानपुस्तकधरा रुद्राक्षमालाङ्किता
वाग्देवी वदनाम्बुजे वसतु मे त्रैलोक्यमाता शुभा ॥
Dhyanam
May the Goddess of Speech (Vagdevi), whose radiant body is smeared with auspicious sandalwood paste, who is dressed in white garments, whose hair is adorned with jasmine garlands, who shines with a brilliant pearl necklace, who holds a book containing all knowledge, who is adorned with a rudraksha mala, the auspicious mother of the three worlds, reside in the lotus of my mouth.
श्रीनारद उवाच-
भगवन्परमेशान सर्वलोकैकनायक ।
कथं सरस्वती साक्षात्प्रसन्ना परमेष्ठिनः ॥ २॥
Shri Narada said:
O Lord, the Supreme Lord, the sole master of all worlds! How did Saraswati personally become pleased with Brahma (Parameshti)? (2)
कथं देव्या महावाण्याः सतत्प्राप सुदुर्लभम् ।
एतन्मे वद तत्त्वेन महायोगीश्वरप्रभो ॥ ३॥
How did he attain the most difficult-to-attain continuous presence of the great Goddess of Speech? Tell me this in truth, O great lord of Yogis. (3)
श्रीसनत्कुमार उवाच-
साधु पृष्टं त्वया ब्रह्मन् गुह्याद्गुह्य मनुत्तमम् ।
भयानुगोपितं यत्नादिदानीं सत्प्रकाश्यते ॥ ४॥
Shri Sanatkumara said:
O Brahman, you have asked well about the most excellent secret of secrets. What was carefully kept hidden due to fear, is now being revealed to the good. (4)
पुरा पितामहं दृष्ट्वा जगत्स्थावरजङ्गमम् ।
निर्विकारं निराभासं स्तंभीभूतमचेतसम् ॥ ५॥
In ancient times, seeing the grandfather (Brahma) along with the moving and unmoving universe, motionless, devoid of light, standing still like a pillar, and devoid of consciousness... (5)
सृष्ट्वा त्रैलोक्यमखिलं वागभावात्तथाविधम् ।
आधिक्याभावतः स्वस्य परमेष्ठी जगद्गुरुः ॥ ६॥
...having created the entire three worlds in that state due to the absence of Speech (Vak), the preceptor of the world, Brahma, feeling the lack of supremacy... (6)
दिव्यवर्षायुतं तेन तपो दुष्कर मुत्तमम् ।
ततः कदाचित्संजाता वाणी सर्वार्थशोभिता ॥ ७॥
...performed most difficult and excellent penance for ten thousand divine years. Then, at some point, Vani (Speech), adorned with all meanings, manifested. (7)
अहमस्मि महाविद्या सर्ववाचामधीश्वरी ।
मम नाम्नां सहस्रं तु उपदेक्ष्याम्यनुत्तमम् ॥ ८॥
[She said:] I am the great knowledge (Mahavidya), the supreme sovereign of all speech. I shall instruct you on the most excellent thousand names of mine. (8)
अनेन संस्तुता नित्यं पत्नी तव भवाम्यहम् ।
त्वया सृष्टं जगत्सर्वं वाणीयुक्तं भविष्यति ॥ ९॥
Being constantly praised by you with this, I shall become your wife. The entire universe created by you shall become endowed with speech. (9)
इदं रहस्यं परमं मम नामसहस्रकम् ।
सर्वपापौघशमनं महासारस्वतप्रदम् ॥ १०॥
This is the supreme secret, my thousand names. It pacifies the flood of all sins and bestows the great grace of Saraswati. (10)
महाकवित्वदं लोके वागीशत्वप्रदायकम् ।
त्वं वा परः पुमान्यस्तुस्तवेनानेन तोषयेत् ॥ ११॥
It grants great poetic skill in the world and bestows the mastery of speech. Whether you or any other supreme person pleases me with this hymn... (11)
तस्याहं किंकरी साक्षाद्भविष्यामि न संशयः ।
इत्युक्त्वान्तर्दधे वाणी तदारभ्य पितामहः ॥ १२॥
...I shall personally become their servant, there is no doubt. Saying this, Vani disappeared. From then on, the Grandfather (Brahma)... (12)
स्तुत्वा स्तोत्रेण दिव्येन तत्पतित्वमवाप्तवान् ।
वाणीयुक्तं जगत्सर्वं तदारभ्याभवन्मुने ॥ १३॥
...having praised her with this divine hymn, attained her as his wife. And from then on, O sage, the entire universe became endowed with speech. (13)
तत्तेहं संप्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु यत्नेन नारद ।
सावधानमना भूत्वा क्षणं शुद्धो मुनीश्वरः ॥ १४॥
Therefore, I shall tell that to you; listen with effort, O Narada. Being attentive in mind and purified for a moment, O lord of sages. (14)
अथ सहस्रनामस्तोत्रम् ।
ॐ वाग्वाणी वरदा वन्द्या वरारोहा वरप्रदा ।
वृत्तिर्वागीश्वरी वार्ता वरा वागीशवल्लभा ॥ १॥

Om. She who is Speech (Vagvani), the Granter of boons, the Adorable, the Beautiful one (Vararoha), the Bestower of boons, the Activity, the Supreme Goddess of Speech (Vagishwari), the Conversation (Varta), the Excellent one, the Beloved of the Lord of Speech. (1)
विश्वेश्वरी विश्ववन्द्या विश्वेशप्रियकारिणी ।
वाग्वादिनी च वाग्देवी वृद्धिदा वृद्धिकारिणी ॥ २॥
The Goddess of the Universe, the Adored by the Universe, the one who does what is dear to the Lord of the Universe, the Speaker, the Goddess of Speech, the Granter of growth/prosperity, the Cause of growth. (2)
वृद्धिर्वृद्धा विषघ्नी च वृष्टिर्वृष्टिप्रदायिनी ।
विश्वाराध्या विश्वमाता विश्वधात्री विनायका ॥ ३॥
She who is Growth, the Ancient one (Vriddha), the Destroyer of poison, the Rain, the Granter of rain, the Adored by the universe, the Mother of the universe, the Sustainer of the universe, the Remover of obstacles (Vinayaka). (3)
विश्वशक्तिर्विश्वसारा विश्वा विश्वविभावरी ।
वेदान्तवेदिनी वेद्या वित्ता वेदत्रयात्मिका ॥ ४॥
The Power of the Universe, the Essence of the Universe, the Universe itself, the Illuminator of the Universe, the Knower of Vedanta, the Knowable, the Wealth, the Embodiment of the three Vedas. (4)
वेदज्ञा वेदजननी विश्वा विश्वविभावरी ।
वरेण्या वाङ्मयी वृद्धा विशिष्टप्रियकारिणी ॥ ५॥
The Knower of the Vedas, the Mother of the Vedas, the Universe, the Illuminator of the Universe, the Most Excellent, the Embodiment of Speech, the Ancient one, the one who does what is dear to the distinguished. (5)
विश्वतोवदना व्याप्ता व्यापिनी व्यापकात्मिका ।
व्याळघ्नी व्याळभूषांगी विरजा वेदनायिका ॥ ६॥
The one with faces on all sides, the All-pervading, the Pervading one, the Embodiment of pervasion, the Destroyer of serpents, the one whose limbs are adorned with serpents, the Dustless/Pure (Viraja), the Goddess of the Vedas. (6)
वेदवेदान्तसंवेद्या वेदान्तज्ञानरूपिणी ।
विभावरी च विक्रान्ता विश्वामित्रा विधिप्रिया ॥ ७॥
The one knowable through Vedas and Vedanta, the Embodiment of the knowledge of Vedanta, the Night/Illuminator (Vibhavari), the Victorious, the Friend of the Universe (Vishvamitra), the Beloved of Brahma (Vidhi). (7)
वरिष्ठा विप्रकृष्टा च विप्रवर्यप्रपूजिता ।
वेदरूपा वेदमयी वेदमूर्तिश्च वल्लभा ॥ ८॥
The Most Excellent, the Remote/Distant (Viprakrishta), the Worshipped by the best of Brahmins, the Form of the Vedas, the Embodiment of the Vedas, the Personification of the Vedas, the Beloved. (8)
गौरी गुणवती गोप्या गन्धर्वनगरप्रिया ।
गुणमाता गुहान्तस्था गुरुरूपा गुरुप्रिया ॥ ९॥
The Fair/Golden one (Gauri), the Endowed with qualities, the Hidden one, the Beloved of the city of Gandharvas, the Mother of qualities, the Dweller in the cave (heart), the Form of the Guru, the Beloved of the Guru. (9)
गिरिविद्या गानतुष्टा गायकप्रियकारिणी ।
गायत्री गिरिशाराध्या गीर्गिरीशप्रियंकरी ॥ १०॥
The Knowledge of the Mountain, the Pleased by singing, the one who does what is dear to singers, the Gayatri, the Adored by the Lord of the Mountain (Shiva), Speech (Gir), the Benefactor of the Lord of the Mountain. (10)
गिरिज्ञा ज्ञानविद्या च गिरिरूपा गिरीश्वरी ।
गीर्माता गणसंस्तुत्या गणनीयगुणान्विता ॥ ११॥
The Knower of the Mountain, the Knowledge and Wisdom, the Form of the Mountain, the Goddess of the Mountain, the Mother of Speech, the Praised by the Ganas, the Endowed with countless qualities. (11)
गूढरूपा गुहा गोप्या गोरूपा गौर्गुणात्मिका ।
गुर्वी गुर्वम्बिका गुह्या गेयजा गृहनाशिनी ॥ १२॥
The one of hidden form, the Cave, the Secret one, the Form of cow/speech, the Cow/Speech, the Embodiment of qualities, the Great one/Preceptor (Gurvi), the Great Mother, the Secret one, the Born of songs, the Destroyer of the house (of illusion). (12)
गृहिणी गृहदोषघ्नी गवघ्नी गुरुवत्सला ।
गृहात्मिका गृहाराध्या गृहबाधाविनाशिनी ॥ १३॥
The Housewife, the Destroyer of the defects of the house, the Destroyer of sins (Gavaghni), the Affectionate to the Guru, the Soul of the house, the Adored in the house, the Destroyer of the afflictions of the house. (13)
गङ्गा गिरिसुता गम्या गजयाना गुहस्तुता ।
गरुडासनसंसेव्या गोमती गुणशालिनी ॥ १४॥
The Ganges, the Daughter of the Mountain, the Accessible one, the one whose gait is like an elephant, the Praised by Guha (Kartikeya), the Served by the one seated on Garuda (Vishnu), Gomati, the Endowed with excellent qualities. (14)
शारदा शाश्वती शैवी शांकरी शंकरात्मिका ।
श्रीः शर्वाणी शतघ्नी च शरच्चन्द्रनिभानना ॥ १५॥
Sharada, the Eternal, the Auspicious (Shaivi), the Beneficent (Shankari), the Soul of Shankara, Prosperity (Shri), the Consort of Shiva (Sharvani), the Destroyer of hundreds, the one whose face resembles the autumn moon. (15)
शर्मिष्ठा शमनघ्नी च शतसाहस्ररूपिणी ।
शिवा शम्भुप्रिया श्रद्धा श्रुतिरूपा श्रुतिप्रिया ॥ १६॥
Sharmistha (the most happy), the Destroyer of the god of death (Shamanaghni), the one with a hundred thousand forms, the Auspicious (Shiva), the Beloved of Shambhu, Faith (Shraddha), the Form of Shruti (Vedas), the Beloved of Shruti. (16)
शुचिष्मती शर्मकरी शुद्धिदा शुद्धिरूपिणी ।
शिवा शिवंकरी शुद्धा शिवाराध्या शिवात्मिका ॥ १७॥
The Pure-minded, the Creator of happiness, the Granter of purity, the Embodiment of purity, the Auspicious, the Doer of auspiciousness, the Pure, the Adored by Shiva, the Soul of Shiva. (17)
श्रीमती श्रीमयी श्राव्या श्रुतिः श्रवणगोचरा ।
शान्तिः शान्तिकरी शान्ता शान्ताचारप्रियंकरी ॥ १८॥
The Endowed with prosperity, the Embodiment of prosperity, the Worthy of being heard, the Shruti (Vedas), the Object of hearing, Peace, the Creator of peace, the Peaceful, the one who loves peaceful conduct. (18)
शीललभ्या शीलवती श्रीमाता शुभकारिणी ।
शुभवाणी शुद्धविद्या शुद्धचित्तप्रपूजिता ॥ १९॥
The Attainable through good character, the Endowed with good character, the Mother of Prosperity (Shri Mata), the Doer of auspiciousness, the Auspicious Speech, the Pure Knowledge, the Worshipped by the pure-hearted. (19)
श्रीकरी श्रुतपापघ्नी शुभाक्षी शुचिवल्लभा ।
शिवेतरघ्नी शबरी श्रवणीयगुणान्विता ॥ २०॥
The Creator of prosperity, the Destroyer of heard sins, the Auspicious-eyed, the Beloved of the pure, the Destroyer of inauspiciousness, Shabari, the Endowed with praiseworthy qualities. (20)
शारी शिरीषपुष्पाभा शमनिष्ठा शमात्मिका ।
शमान्विता शमाराध्या शितिकण्ठप्रपूजिता ॥ २१॥
Shari, the one with the radiance of the Shirisha flower, the Devoted to tranquility, the Embodiment of tranquility, the Endowed with tranquility, the Adored by tranquility, the Worshipped by the blue-necked one (Shiva). (21)
शुद्धिः शुद्धिकरी श्रेष्ठा श्रुतानन्ता शुभावहा ।
सरस्वती च सर्वज्ञा सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायिनी ॥ २२॥
Purity, the Creator of purity, the Excellent, the Infinite in the Vedas, the Bringer of auspiciousness, Saraswati, the All-knowing, the Granter of all accomplishments. (22)
सरस्वती च सावित्री संध्या सर्वेप्सितप्रदा ।
सर्वार्तिघ्नी सर्वमयी सर्वविद्याप्रदायिनी ॥ २३॥
Saraswati, Savitri, Sandhya, the Granter of all desires, the Destroyer of all afflictions, the All-pervading, the Granter of all knowledge. (23)
सर्वेश्वरी सर्वपुण्या सर्गस्थित्यन्तकारिणी ।
सर्वाराध्या सर्वमाता सर्वदेवनिषेविता ॥ २४॥
The Goddess of all, the All-auspicious, the Cause of creation, preservation, and destruction, the Adored by all, the Mother of all, the Served by all gods. (24)
सर्वैश्वर्यप्रदा सत्या सती सत्वगुणाश्रया ।
स्वरक्रमपदाकारा सर्वदोषनिषूदिनी ॥ २५॥
The Granter of all sovereign power, the Truth, the Chaste/True one, the Refuge of the Sattva guna, the Form of the sequences and words of vowels, the Destroyer of all defects. (25)
सहस्राक्षी सहस्रास्या सहस्रपदसंयुता ।
सहस्रहस्ता साहस्रगुणालंकृतविग्रहा ॥ २६॥
The Thousand-eyed, the Thousand-faced, the Endowed with a thousand feet, the Thousand-handed, the one whose body is adorned with a thousand qualities. (26)
सहस्रशीर्षा सद्रूपा स्वधा स्वाहा सुधामयी ।
षड्ग्रन्थिभेदिनी सेव्या सर्वलोकैकपूजिता ॥ २७॥
The Thousand-headed, the Form of Truth, Svadha (offering to ancestors), Svaha (offering to gods), the Embodiment of nectar, the Piercer of the six knots, the Worthy of service, the Solely worshipped by all worlds. (27)
स्तुत्या स्तुतिमयी साध्या सवितृप्रियकारिणी ।
संशयच्छेदिनी सांख्यवेद्या संख्या सदीश्वरी ॥ २८॥
The Praiseworthy, the Embodiment of praise, the Achievable, the one who does what is dear to the Sun (Savitri), the Destroyer of doubts, the Knowable through Sankhya, the Number/Knowledge, the Eternal Goddess. (28)
सिद्धिदा सिद्धसम्पूज्या सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायिनी ।
सर्वज्ञा सर्वशक्तिश्च सर्वसम्पत्प्रदायिनी ॥ २९॥
The Granter of accomplishments, the Worshipped by the Siddhas, the Granter of all accomplishments, the All-knowing, the All-powerful, the Granter of all wealth. (29)
सर्वाशुभघ्नी सुखदा सुखा संवित्स्वरूपिणी ।
सर्वसम्भीषणी सर्वजगत्सम्मोहिनी तथा ॥ ३०॥
The Destroyer of all inauspiciousness, the Granter of happiness, Happiness, the Embodiment of Consciousness, the Terrifier of all, the Enchanter of the whole universe. (30)
सर्वप्रियंकरी सर्वशुभदा सर्वमङ्गळा ।
सर्वमन्त्रमयी सर्वतीर्थपुण्यफलप्रदा ॥ ३१॥
The Doer of what is dear to all, the Granter of all auspiciousness, the All-auspicious, the Embodiment of all mantras, the Granter of the merit of all holy places. (31)
सर्वपुण्यमयी सर्वव्याधिघ्नी सर्वकामदा ।
सर्वविघ्नहरी सर्ववन्दिता सर्वमङ्गळा ॥ ३२॥
The Embodiment of all merit, the Destroyer of all diseases, the Granter of all desires, the Remover of all obstacles, the Adored by all, the All-auspicious. (32)
सर्वमन्त्रकरी सर्वलक्ष्मीः सर्वगुणान्विता ।
सर्वानन्दमयी सर्वज्ञानदा सत्यनायिका ॥ ३३॥
The Creator of all mantras, the All-Lakshmi, the Endowed with all qualities, the Embodiment of all bliss, the Granter of all knowledge, the Goddess of truth. (33)
सर्वज्ञानमयी सर्वराज्यदा सर्वमुक्तिदा ।
सुप्रभा सर्वदा सर्वा सर्वलोकवशंकरी ॥ ३४॥
The Embodiment of all knowledge, the Granter of all kingdoms, the Granter of all liberation, the Radiant, the Granter of all, the All, the Subduer of all worlds. (34)
सुभगा सुन्दरी सिद्धा सिद्धाम्बा सिद्धमातृका ।
सिद्धमाता सिद्धविद्या सिद्धेशी सिद्धरूपिणी ॥ ३५॥
The Auspicious/Fortunate, the Beautiful, the Accomplished, the Mother of Siddhas, the Matrix of Siddhas, the Mother of Siddhas, the Knowledge of Siddhas, the Goddess of Siddhas, the Form of Siddhas. (35)
सुरूपिणी सुखमयी सेवकप्रियकारिणी ।
स्वामिनी सर्वदा सेव्या स्थूलसूक्ष्मापराम्बिका ॥ ३६॥
The Beautiful-formed, the Embodiment of happiness, the Doer of what is dear to the servants, the Mistress, the Always worthy of service, the Gross and Subtle, the Supreme Mother. (36)
साररूपा सरोरूपा सत्यभूता समाश्रया ।
सितासिता सरोजाक्षी सरोजासनवल्लभा ॥ ३७॥
The Form of essence, the Form of the lake, the Embodiment of Truth, the Equal refuge, the White and non-white, the Lotus-eyed, the Beloved of the lotus-seated one (Brahma). (37)
सरोरुहाभा सर्वाङ्गी सुरेन्द्रादिप्रपूजिता ।
महादेवी महेशानी महासारस्वतप्रदा ॥ ३८॥
The Radiant as a lotus, the Endowed with all limbs, the Worshipped by Indra and others, the Great Goddess, the Great Sovereign, the Granter of the great eloquence (Saraswata). (38)
महासरस्वती मुक्ता मुक्तिदा मलनाशिनी ।
महेश्वरी महानन्दा महामन्त्रमयी मही ॥ ३९॥
Maha Saraswati, the Liberated, the Granter of liberation, the Destroyer of impurities, the Great Sovereign, the Great Bliss, the Embodiment of the great mantra, the Earth. (39)
महालक्ष्मीर्महाविद्या माता मन्दरवासिनी ।
मन्त्रगम्या मन्त्रमाता महामन्त्रफलप्रदा ॥ ४०॥
Maha Lakshmi, the Great Knowledge, the Mother, the Dweller in the Mandara mountain, the Accessible through mantras, the Mother of mantras, the Granter of the fruits of great mantras. (40)
महामुक्तिर्महानित्या महासिद्धिप्रदायिनी ।
महासिद्धा महामाता महदाकारसंयुता ॥ ४१॥
The Great Liberation, the Great Eternal one, the Granter of great accomplishments, the Greatly Accomplished, the Great Mother, the Endowed with a great form. (41)
महा महेश्वरी मूर्तिर्मोक्षदा मणिभूषणा ।
मेनका मानिनी मान्या मृत्युघ्नी मेरुरूपिणी ॥ ४२॥
The Great one, the Great Goddess, the Image, the Granter of liberation, the Adorned with gems, Menaka, the Proud/Honorable, the Respectable, the Destroyer of death, the Form of Meru. (42)
मदिराक्षी मदावासा मखरूपा मखेश्वरी ।
महामोहा महामाया मातॄणां मूर्ध्निसंस्थिता ॥ ४३॥
The Intoxicating-eyed, the Abode of intoxication/joy, the Form of sacrifice, the Goddess of sacrifice, the Great Delusion, the Great Illusion, the one residing on the heads of the mothers. (43)
महापुण्या मुदावासा महासम्पत्प्रदायिनी ।
मणिपूरैकनिलया मधुरूपा महोत्कटा ॥ ४४॥
The Greatly Meritorious, the Abode of joy, the Granter of great wealth, the Sole resident of the Manipura chakra, the Form of honey/sweetness, the Greatly fierce/powerful. (44)
महासूक्ष्मा महाशान्ता महाशान्तिप्रदायिनी ।
मुनिस्तुता मोहहन्त्री माधवी माधवप्रिया ॥ ४५॥
The Greatly Subtle, the Greatly Peaceful, the Granter of great peace, the Praised by sages, the Destroyer of delusion, Madhavi, the Beloved of Madhava. (45)
मा महादेवसंस्तुत्या महिषीगणपूजिता ।
मृष्टान्नदा च माहेन्द्री महेन्द्रपददायिनी ॥ ४६॥
The Mother, the Praised by Mahadeva, the Worshipped by the host of queens (Mahishis), the Granter of delicious food, the Great Indrani, the Granter of the position of great Indra. (46)
मतिर्मतिप्रदा मेधा मर्त्यलोकनिवासिनी ।
मुख्या महानिवासा च महाभाग्यजनाश्रिता ॥ ४७॥
The Intelligence, the Granter of intelligence, Medha (Intellect), the Dweller in the mortal world, the Chief one, the Great abode, the Resorted to by greatly fortunate people. (47)
महिळा महिमा मृत्युहारी मेधाप्रदायिनी ।
मेध्या महावेगवती महामोक्षफलप्रदा ॥ ४८॥
The Woman, the Glory, the Destroyer of death, the Granter of intellect, the Pure/Sacred, the Greatly swift, the Granter of the great fruit of liberation. (48)
महाप्रभाभा महती महादेवप्रियंकरी ।
महापोषा महर्द्धिश्च मुक्ताहारविभूषणा ॥ ४९॥
The one with great radiant luster, the Great one, the Doer of what is dear to Mahadeva, the Great nourisher, the Great prosperity, the Adorned with a pearl necklace. (49)
माणिक्यभूषणा मन्त्रा मुख्यचन्द्रार्धशेखरा ।
मनोरूपा मनःशुद्धिः मनःशुद्धिप्रदायिनी ॥ ५0॥
The Adorned with rubies, the Mantra, the Chief one, the one with the half-moon as a crest-jewel, the Form of the mind, the Purity of mind, the Granter of purity of mind. (50)
महाकारुण्यसम्पूर्णा मनोनमनवन्दिता ।
महापातकजालघ्नी मुक्तिदा मुक्तभूषणा ॥ ५१॥
The Full of great compassion, the Worshipped by the bowing of the mind, the Destroyer of the net of great sins, the Granter of liberation, the Adorned with pearls. (51)
मनोन्मनी महास्थूला महाक्रतुफलप्रदा ।
महापुण्यफलप्राप्या मायात्रिपुरनाशिनी ॥ ५२॥
The Uplifter of the mind (Manonmani), the Greatly gross, the Granter of the fruits of great sacrifices, the Attainable by the fruits of great merit, the Destroyer of Maya and Tripura. (52)

भवस्तुत्या भानुमती भवसागरतारणी ॥ ५८॥
Bhagirathi, the Adored by Bhava (Shiva), the Fortunate, the Worshipped by the virtuous, the Praised by Bhava, the Radiant (Bhanumati), the Boat to cross the ocean of worldly existence. (58)
भूतिर्भूषा च भूतेशी भाललोचनपूजिता ।
भूता भव्या भविष्या च भवविद्या भवात्मिका ॥ ५९॥
Prosperity, the Adornment, the Goddess of beings, the Worshipped by the one with an eye on the forehead (Shiva), the Past, the Auspicious/Future, the Future, the Knowledge of Bhava, the Soul of Bhava. (59)
बाधापहारिणी बन्धुरूपा भुवनपूजिता ।

The Form of a mendicant, the Creator of devotion, the Granter of Lakshmi (wealth) to devotees, the Destroyer of delusion, the Form of delusion, the Granter of prosperity, the Cause of prosperity. (64)
भिक्षणीया भिक्षुमाता भाग्यवद्दृष्टिगोचरा ।
भोगवती भोगरूपा भोगमोक्षफलप्रदा ॥ ६५॥
The Worthy of receiving alms, the Mother of mendicants, the Visible to the fortunate, the Possessor of enjoyments, the Form of enjoyment, the Granter of the fruits of enjoyment and liberation. (65)
भोगश्रान्ता भाग्यवती भक्ताघौघविनाशिनी ।
ब्राह्मी ब्रह्मस्वरूपा च बृहती ब्रह्मवल्लभा ॥ ६६॥

अक्षमालाक्षराकाराक्षराक्षरफलप्रदा ॥ ७३॥
The Form of intelligence, the Goddess of the wise, the Bound/Binding, the Liberator from bonds, the Rosary of beads, the Form of letters, the Granter of the fruits of the imperishable letters. (73)
अनन्तानन्दसुखदानन्तचन्द्रनिभानना ।
अनन्तमहिमाघोरानन्तगम्भीरसम्मिता ॥ ७४॥
The Granter of infinite joy and happiness, the one whose face resembles infinite moons, the one of infinite glory, the Non-terrible (Aghora), the Endowed with infinite depth. (74)
अदृष्टादृष्टदानन्तादृष्टभाग्यफलप्रदा ।
अरुन्धत्यव्ययीनाथानेकसद्गुणसंयुता ॥ ७५॥
The Unseen, the Granter of the unseen, the Infinite, the Granter of unseen fortunate fruits, Arundhati, the Imperishable, the Protector, the Endowed with numerous good qualities. (75)
अनेकभूषणादृश्यानेकलेखनिषेविता ।
अनन्तानन्तसुखदाघोराघोरस्वरूपिणी ॥ ७६॥
The Adorned with numerous ornaments, the Invisible, the Served by numerous gods, the Granter of infinite and endless happiness, the Form of both terrible and non-terrible. (76)
अशेषदेवतारूपामृतरूपामृतेश्वरी ।
अनवद्यानेकहस्तानेकमाणिक्यभूषणा ॥ ७७॥
The Form of all gods, the Form of nectar, the Goddess of nectar, the Faultless, the Many-handed, the Adorned with numerous rubies. (77)
अनेकविघ्नसंहर्त्री ह्यनेकाभरणान्विता ।
अविद्याज्ञानसंहर्त्री ह्यविद्याजालनाशिनी ॥ ७८॥
The Destroyer of numerous obstacles, the Endowed with numerous ornaments, the Destroyer of ignorance and lack of knowledge, the Destroyer of the net of ignorance. (78)
अभिरूपानवद्याङ्गी ह्यप्रतर्क्यगतिप्रदा ।
अकळंकारूपिणी च ह्यनुग्रहपरायणा ॥ ७९॥
The Beautiful, the one with faultless limbs, the Granter of an inconceivable state, the Form of the unblemished, the Dedicated to grace. (79)
अम्बरस्थाम्बरमयाम्बरमालाम्बुजेक्षणा ।
अम्बिकाब्जकराब्जस्थांशुमत्यंशुशतान्विता ॥ ८०॥
The Dweller in the sky, the Made of ether, the Wearer of a garland of ether/clothes, the Lotus-eyed, Ambika, the Lotus-handed, the Seated on a lotus, the Radiant, the Endowed with hundreds of rays. (80)
अम्बुजानवराखण्डाम्बुजासनमहाप्रिया ।
अजरामरसंसेव्याजरसेवितपद्युगा ॥ ८१॥
The Lotus, the Faultless, the Undivided, the one extremely fond of the lotus seat, the Served by the ageless and immortal, the one whose feet are served by the ageless. (81)
अतुलार्थप्रदार्थैक्यात्युदारात्वभयान्विता ।
अनाथवत्सलानन्तप्रियानन्तेप्सितप्रदा ॥ ८२॥
The Granter of incomparable wealth, the Unity of wealth, the Extremely generous, the Endowed with fearlessness, the Affectionate to the orphans, the Beloved of the infinite, the Granter of infinite desires. (82)
अम्बुजाक्ष्यम्बुरूपाम्बुजातोद्भवमहाप्रिया ।
अखण्डात्वमरस्तुत्यामरनायकपूजिता ॥ ८३॥
The Lotus-eyed, the Form of water, the Extremely fond of the lotus-born (Brahma), the Undivided, the Praised by the immortals, the Worshipped by the lord of the immortals. (83)
अजेयात्वजसंकाशाज्ञाननाशिन्यभीष्टदा ।
अक्ताघनेना चास्त्रेशी ह्यलक्ष्मीनाशिनी तथा ॥ ८४॥
The Invincible, the Resplendent like the unborn (Brahma), the Destroyer of ignorance, the Granter of desired boons, the Anointed, the Sinless, the Goddess of weapons, the Destroyer of Alakshmi (misfortune). (84)
अनन्तसारानन्तश्रीरनन्तविधिपूजिता ।
अभीष्टामर्त्यसम्पूज्या ह्यस्तोदयविवर्जिता ॥ ८५॥
The Infinite essence, the Infinite prosperity, the Worshipped by the infinite Brahma, the Desired, the Worshipped by the immortals, the Devoid of setting and rising. (85)
आस्तिकस्वान्तनिलयास्त्ररूपास्त्रवती तथा ।
अस्खलत्यस्खलद्रूपास्खलद्विद्याप्रदायिनी ॥ ८६॥
The Dweller in the hearts of the theists, the Form of weapons, the Possessor of weapons, the Unfaltering, the Unfaltering form, the Granter of unfaltering knowledge. (86)
अस्खलत्सिद्धिदानन्दाम्बुजातामरनायिका ।
अमेयाशेषपापघ्न्यक्षयसारस्वतप्रदा ॥ ८७॥
The Granter of unfaltering accomplishments, the Blissful, the Lotus-born, the Goddess of the immortals, the Immeasurable, the Destroyer of all sins, the Granter of inexhaustible eloquence. (87)
जया जयन्ती जयदा जन्मकर्मविवर्जिता ।
जगत्प्रिया जगन्माता जगदीश्वरवल्लभा ॥ ८८॥

जगत्त्रयाम्बा जगती ज्वाला ज्वालितलोचना ।
ज्वालिनी ज्वलनाभासा ज्वलन्ती ज्वलनात्मिका ॥ ९९॥

कामिनी कामरूपा च काम्या कामप्रदायिनी ।
कमौळी कामदा कर्त्री क्रतुकर्मफलप्रदा ॥ १०२॥
The Desirable, the Form of desire, the Desired, the Granter of desires, the one whose head is Kam (Brahma), the Granter of desires, the Doer, the Granter of the fruits of sacrificial acts. (102)
कृतघ्नघ्नी क्रियारूपा कार्यकारणरूपिणी ।

तुर्या त्रैलोक्यसंस्तुत्या त्रिगुणा त्रिगुणेश्वरी ।
त्रिपुरघ्नी त्रिमाता च त्र्यम्बका त्रिगुणान्विता ॥ १२१॥
Turya (the fourth state), the Praised by the three worlds, the Endowed with the three Gunas, the Goddess of the three Gunas, the Destroyer of Tripura, the Mother of the three, Tryambaka, the Endowed with the three Gunas. (121)
तृष्णाच्छेदकरी तृप्ता तीक्ष्णा तीक्ष्णस्वरूपिणी ।
तुला तुलादिरहिता तत्तद्ब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी ॥ १२२॥
The Cutter of thirst/desire, the Satisfied, the Sharp, the Sharp-formed, the Balance, the Devoid of balance and others, the Form of that respective Brahman. (122)
त्राणकर्त्री त्रिपापघ्नी त्रिपदा त्रिदशान्विता ।
तथ्या त्रिशक्तिस्त्रिपदा तुर्या त्रैलोक्यसुन्दरी ॥ १२३॥
The Protector, the Destroyer of the three sins, the Three-footed, the Endowed with the gods, the Truth, the Three-powered, the Three-footed, Turya, the Beauty of the three worlds. (123)
तेजस्करी त्रिमूर्त्याद्या तेजोरूपा त्रिधामता ।
त्रिचक्रकर्त्री त्रिभगा तुर्यातीतफलप्रदा ॥ १२४॥
The Creator of radiance, the First of the trinity, the Form of radiance, the Possessor of the three abodes, the Creator of the three chakras, the Possessor of three portions, the Granter of the fruits beyond the Turya state. (124)
तेजस्विनी तापहारी तापोपप्लवनाशिनी ।
तेजोगर्भा तपःसारा त्रिपुरारिप्रियंकरी ॥ १२५॥
The Radiant, the Remover of heat/sorrow, the Destroyer of the afflictions of heat, the Womb of radiance, the Essence of penance, the Benefactor of the enemy of Tripura (Shiva). (125)
तन्वी तापससंतुष्टा तपनाङ्गजभीतिनुत् ।
त्रिलोचना त्रिमार्गा च तृतीया त्रिदशस्तुता ॥ १२६॥
The Slender one, the Satisfied by ascetics, the Dispeller of the fear born of the heating sun, the Three-eyed, the Three-pathed, the Third, the Praised by the gods. (126)
त्रिसुन्दरी त्रिपथगा तुरीयपददायिनी ।
शुभा शुभावती शान्ता शान्तिदा शुभदायिनी ॥ १२७॥
The Beauty of the three, the Flowing in three paths (Ganges), the Granter of the Turya state, the Auspicious, the Endowed with auspiciousness, the Peaceful, the Granter of peace, the Granter of auspiciousness. (127)
शीतळा शूलिनी शीता श्रीमती च शुभान्विता ।
योगसिद्धिप्रदा योग्या यज्ञेनपरिपूरिता ॥ १२८॥
The Cool, the Wielding the trident, the Cool one, the Fortunate, the Endowed with auspiciousness, the Granter of the accomplishments of Yoga, the Worthy, the Filled by sacrifices. (128)
यज्या यज्ञमयी यक्षी यक्षिणी यक्षिवल्लभा ।
यज्ञप्रिया यज्ञपूज्या यज्ञतुष्टा यमस्तुता ॥ १२९॥
The Worthy of sacrifice, the Form of sacrifice, Yakshi, Yakshini, the Beloved of Yakshas, the Fond of sacrifices, the Adored by sacrifices, the Satisfied by sacrifices, the Praised by Yama. (129)
यामिनीयप्रभा याम्या यजनीया यशस्करी ।
यज्ञकर्त्री यज्ञरूपा यशोदा यज्ञसंस्तुता ॥ १३०॥
The Radiance of the night, the Southern/Relating to Yama, the Worthy of worship, the Creator of fame, the Doer of sacrifices, the Form of sacrifices, Yashoda (Granter of fame), the Praised by sacrifices. (130)
यज्ञेशी यज्ञफलदा योगयोनिर्यजुस्तुता ।
यमिसेव्या यमाराध्या यमिपूज्या यमीश्वरी ॥ १३१॥
The Goddess of sacrifices, the Granter of the fruits of sacrifices, the Womb of Yoga, the Praised by Yajur Veda, the Served by ascetics, the Adored by Yama, the Worshipped by ascetics, the Goddess of ascetics. (131)
योगिनी योगरूपा च योगकर्तृप्रियंकरी ।
योगयुक्ता योगमयी योगयोगीश्वराम्बिका ॥ १३२॥
Yogini, the Form of Yoga, the Benefactor of the practitioners of Yoga, the Endowed with Yoga, the Form of Yoga, the Mother of the lords of Yoga. (132)
योगज्ञानमयी योनिर्यमाद्यष्टाङ्गयोगता ।
यन्त्रिताघौघसंहारा यमलोकनिवारिणी ॥ १३३॥
The Form of the knowledge of Yoga, the Womb, the Endowed with the eight limbs of Yoga starting with Yama, the Restrained, the Destroyer of the flood of sins, the Preventer of the realm of Yama. (133)
यष्टिव्यष्टीशसंस्तुत्या यमाद्यष्टाङ्गयोगयुक् ।
योगीश्वरी योगमाता योगसिद्धा च योगदा ॥ १३४॥
The Praised by the lords of individual and collective entities, the Endowed with the eight limbs of Yoga starting with Yama, the Goddess of Yogis, the Mother of Yoga, the Accomplished in Yoga, the Granter of Yoga. (134)
योगारूढा योगमयी योगरूपा यवीयसी ।
यन्त्ररूपा च यन्त्रस्था यन्त्रपूज्या च यन्त्रिता ॥ १३५॥
The Mounted on Yoga, the Form of Yoga, the Form of Yoga, the Younger, the Form of the Yantra, the Situated in the Yantra, the Worshipped through the Yantra, the Restrained. (135)
युगकर्त्री युगमयी युगधर्मविवर्जिता ।
यमुना यमिनी याम्या यमुनाजलमध्यगा ॥ १३६॥
The Creator of the ages, the Form of the ages, the Devoid of the duties of the ages, Yamuna, Yamini (Night), the Southern, the Situated in the middle of the Yamuna waters. (136)
यातायातप्रशमनी यातनानान्निकृन्तनी ।
योगावासा योगिवन्द्या यत्तच्छब्दस्वरूपिणी ॥ १३७॥
The Pacifier of coming and going (birth and death), the Cutter of the torments of hell, the Abode of Yoga, the Revered by Yogis, the Form of the words 'Yat' and 'Tat' (That). (137)
योगक्षेममयी यन्त्रा यावदक्षरमातृका ।
यावत्पदमयी यावच्छब्दरूपा यथेश्वरी ॥ १३८॥
The Form of securing what is acquired (Yoga-Kshema), the Yantra, the Matrix of all letters, the Form of all words, the Form of all sounds, the Goddess of truth (Yatha). (138)
यत्तदीया यक्षवन्द्या यद्विद्या यतिसंस्तुता ।
यावद्विद्यामयी यावद्विद्यावृन्दसुवन्दिता ॥ १३९॥
The Belonging to That, the Revered by Yakshas, the Knowledge of That, the Praised by ascetics, the Form of all knowledge, the Worshipped by the host of all knowledge. (139)
योगिहृत्पद्मनिलया योगिवर्यप्रियंकरी ।
योगिवन्द्या योगिमाता योगीशफलदायिनी ॥ १४०॥
The Resident in the lotus hearts of Yogis, the Benefactor of the best of Yogis, the Revered by Yogis, the Mother of Yogis, the Granter of the fruits to the lords of Yogis. (140)
यक्षवन्द्या यक्षपूज्या यक्षराजसुपूजिता ।
यज्ञरूपा यज्ञतुष्टा यायजूकस्वरूपिणी ॥ १४१॥
The Revered by Yakshas, the Worshipped by Yakshas, the Worshipped well by the king of Yakshas, the Form of sacrifice, the Satisfied by sacrifice, the Form of the frequent sacrificer. (141)
यन्त्राराध्या यन्त्रमध्या यन्त्रकर्तृप्रियंकरी ।
यन्त्रारूढा यन्त्रपूज्या योगिध्यानपरायणा ॥ १४२॥
The Adored through Yantras, the Center of the Yantra, the Benefactor of the makers of Yantras, the Mounted on the Yantra, the Worshipped through Yantras, the Devoted to the meditation of Yogis. (142)
यजनीया यमस्तुत्या योगयुक्ता यशस्करी ।
योगबद्धा यतिस्तुत्या योगज्ञा योगनायकी ॥ १४३॥
The Worthy of sacrifice, the Praised by Yama, the Endowed with Yoga, the Creator of fame, the Bound in Yoga, the Praised by ascetics, the Knower of Yoga, the Leader of Yoga. (143)
योगिज्ञानप्रदा यक्षी यमबाधाविनाशिनी ।
योगिकाम्यप्रदात्री च योगिमोक्षप्रदायिनी ॥ १४४॥
The Granter of the knowledge of Yogis, Yakshi, the Destroyer of the afflictions of Yama, the Granter of the desires of Yogis, the Granter of liberation to Yogis. (144)
इति नाम्नां सरस्वत्याः सहस्रं समुदीरितम् ।
मन्त्रात्मकं महागोप्यं महासारस्वतप्रदम् ॥ १॥
Thus the thousand names of Saraswati have been spoken. It is of the nature of mantras, highly secret, and the granter of great eloquence. (1)
यः पठेच्छृणुयाद्भक्त्या त्रिकालं साधकः पुमान् ।
सर्वविद्यानिधिः साक्षात् स एव भवति ध्रुवम् ॥ २॥
A practitioner who reads or listens to this with devotion three times a day, certainly becomes a manifest treasure-house of all knowledge. (2)
लभते संपदः सर्वाः पुत्रपौत्रादिसंयुताः ।
मूकोऽपि सर्वविद्यासु चतुर्मुख इवापरः ॥ ३॥
He attains all wealth, endowed with sons, grandsons, etc. Even a mute person becomes like another four-faced Brahma in all sciences. (3)
भूत्वा प्राप्नोति सान्निध्यं अन्ते धातुर्मुनीश्वर ।
सर्वमन्त्रमयं सर्वविद्यामानफलप्रदम् ॥ ४॥
Having become so, O lord of sages, he attains proximity to the Creator in the end. It is the embodiment of all mantras and the granter of the respected fruits of all knowledge. (4)
महाकवित्वदं पुंसां महासिद्धिप्रदायकम् ।
कस्मैचिन्न प्रदातव्यं प्राणैः कण्ठगतैरपि ॥ ५॥
It grants great poetic skill to men and bestows great accomplishments. It should not be given to just anyone, even if one's life is in the throat (about to die). (5)
महारहस्यं सततं वाणीनामसहस्रकम् ।
सुसिद्धमस्मदादीनां स्तोत्रं ते समुदीरितम् ॥ ६॥
The thousand names of Vani are always a great secret. This hymn, well-established among us, has been spoken to you. (6)
॥ इति श्रीस्कान्दपुराणान्तर्गत
सनत्कुमार संहितायां नारद सनत्कुमार संवादे
सरस्वतीसहस्रनामस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
Thus ends the Saraswati Sahasranama Stotram in the dialogue between Narada and Sanatkumara in the Sanatkumara Samhita within the Shri Skanda Purana.
