நித்ய ஸந்த்யா வந்தநம் (க்ரு'ஷ்ண யஜுர்வேதீய)

Purification of the body.

Whether one is in a state of impurity or purity, or in any condition whatsoever,

If one remembers the Lotus-Eyed Lord (Vishnu), one becomes pure both externally and internally.

O Lotus-Eyed Lord! O Lotus-Eyed Lord! Salutations to the Lotus-Eyed Lord. Sipping water (Achamanam).

Om. Performing the act of sipping water.

Om. Salutations to Lord Keshava.

Om. Salutations to Lord Narayana.

Om. Salutations to Lord Madhava. (Thus, sip water three times).

Om. Salutations to Lord Govinda. (Wiping the hands).

Om. Salutations to Lord Vishnu.

Salutations to Lord Madhusudana (the destroyer of the demon Madhu).

Salutations to Lord Trivikrama (the one who measured the universe in three strides).

Salutations to Lord Vamana (the dwarf incarnation), (sprinkling water over the head).

Salutations to Lord Shridhara (the possessor of the goddess of fortune, Lakshmi).

Salutations to Lord Hrishikesha (the lord of the senses), (sprinkling water on the left hand).

Salutations to Lord Padmanabha (the one from whose navel the lotus emerged), (sprinkling water on the feet).

Salutations to Lord Damodara (the one bound by the rope around his waist), (sprinkling water over the head).

Salutations to Lord Sankarshana (the source of universal manifestation), (sprinkling water on the chin with the fingers).

Salutations to Lord Vasudeva (the indweller of all).

Salutations to Lord Pradyumna (the divine fulfiller of desires), (touching the nostrils).

Om, salutations to Aniruddha (the Unobstructed One).

Om, salutations to Purushottama (the Supreme Person).

Om, salutations to Adhokshaja (He who is beyond the perception of the senses).

Om, salutations to Narasimha (the Man-Lion incarnation).

Om, salutations to Achyuta (the Infallible One).

Om, salutations to Janardana (He who destroys the sorrows of His devotees).

Om, salutations to Upendra (the younger brother of Indra, the Lord who elevates all).

Om, salutations to Hari (the Remover of sins and obstacles).

Om, salutations to Sri Krishna.

Om, salutations and salutations to Sri Krishna, the Supreme Brahman.

By reciting these and performing the prescribed actions, may the limbs become purified. (Bhuta-uchchatana/Removal of negative influences)

Let the evil spirits and ghosts that burden the earth depart.

Without causing any obstruction to them, I shall commence the performance of Brahman-karma (the divine duties).

Om. The physical realm, the subtle realm, and the celestial realm.

The Gayatri meter, presided over by the divine, is utilized for the practice of Pranayama (breath control).

(After performing Pranayama, recite this Gayatri Mantra during the Kumbhaka stage.) (Pranayama)

Om to the Earth, Om to the Atmosphere, Om to the Heavens, Om to the Great Universe, Om to the Realm of Beings, Om to the Realm of Penance, Om to the Truth.

We meditate upon the glorious, supreme effulgence of the divine Sun, who is worthy of worship.

May He inspire and guide our intellects.

Om, the waters, the light, the essence, the nectar, the Absolute Reality—the physical, subtle, and celestial realms are all Om. (Sankalpa/Resolution)

For the sake of the complete dissolution of all the sins I have accumulated.

With the Supreme Lord as my sole objective, and for the purpose of pleasing the Supreme Lord.

At this auspicious, glorious, and fortunate moment of transition.

By the command of the Supreme Lord Maha Vishnu, and as this time currently unfolds.

In this current day of Lord Brahma, during the second half of his lifespan (Dvitiya Parardha).

In the Shveta Varaha Kalpa, and in the current Vaivasvata Manvantara.

In the Kali Yuga, during its first quarter.

In the land of Bharata—situated within Jambu Dvipa, in the region of Bharata Varsha, in the sub-continent of Bharata Khanda, and to the south (or north) of Mount Meru.

In America—situated within Krauncha Dvipa, in the region of Ramanaka Varsha, in the Aindrika Khanda, surrounded by the seven oceans, and in the forest of Kapila.

In this auspicious home, in the presence of all the Devas, the learned Brahmanas, and at the lotus feet of Lord Hari, Lord Hara, and the Guru.

In this current, conventional lunar calendar.

In the year [name of the year], in the [Northern or Southern] solstice.

In the season of [Spring, Summer, Monsoon, Autumn, Pre-winter, or Winter].

In the month of [Chaitra, Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Ashadha, Shravana, Bhadrapada, Ashvayuja, Kartika, Margashirsha, Pushya, Magha, or Phalguna].

In the lunar fortnight of [the waxing or waning moon].

On this specific lunar day.

On the day of [Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday].

On this auspicious day, under an auspicious star, with an auspicious planetary combination, and during an auspicious astrological half-day.

Endowed with such specific qualities and attributes, on this auspicious day, I, [the performer], being blessed with prosperity.

Of the lineage of [Gotra name], bearing the name [Name], and of the lineage of [Spouse's Gotra].

I, bearing this name, perform the morning (midday/evening) twilight adoration.

Purification (Sprinkling of water).

O Divine Waters, you are the source of supreme happiness.

Bestow upon us nourishment and strength.

So that we may behold the Great Splendor.

Grant us a portion of your most auspicious essence.

Just as you nourish us with your grace.

Like loving mothers who yearn for their children.

Therefore, let us partake of your healing presence.

For the purpose of our spiritual growth, which you joyfully facilitate.

O Waters, grant us life and vitality. (Sprinkle water on the head)

(Taking water in the palm) Morning water-sipping mantra.

May the Sun, the god of wrath, and the lords of wrath protect me from the consequences of the sins committed out of anger.

May they protect me from all sins. Whatever sins I have committed during the night, whether by mind, speech, or hands;

Whether by feet, or through the stomach, or through the organs of generation; may the Night efface all such sins and whatever other evil exists within me.

I offer this 'I' (my ego) into the immortal source, into the light of the Sun. Svaha! Midday water-sipping mantra.

May the Waters purify the Earth; may the purified Earth purify me.

May the Lord of sacred knowledge purify me; may the purified sacred knowledge purify me.

Whatever remnants of food I have consumed that were unfit for eating, and whatever wicked deeds I have performed;

May the Waters purify me of all these, and also of the sin of accepting improper gifts. Svaha! Evening water-sipping mantra.

May Agni (the Fire God) and Manyu (the presiding deity of righteous indignation), along with the lords of wrath, protect me from the sins committed under the influence of anger.

May they protect me from all sins. Whatever sins I have committed during the day, whether by thought, word, or deed—

Whether committed through my mind, my speech, my hands, my feet, my stomach, or the organs of generation—

May the day itself wipe away all that impurity and evil that resides within me.

I offer this 'I' (my ego) into the immortal source, the Truth-filled Light. Svaha (I offer this oblation).

I have praised the victorious, divine horse, Dadhikravan, who possesses great strength and speed.

May he make our mouths fragrant with righteousness and lengthen our lives. O Divine Waters, you are the source of supreme happiness; grant us nourishment and strength.

Grant us the grace to behold the Great Splendor. Give us a share in that essence of yours which is the most auspicious and healing.

Like loving mothers who yearn to nourish their children, shower upon us that divine essence.

May we be directed toward the dwelling place of that healing essence, for which you exist and which you bestow upon us to sustain our lives.

O Waters, grant us new life and birth. (Self-purification/Sprinkling)

The Waters, golden-hued, pure and purifying, in which Kashyapa was born and Indra also exists.

The Waters that contain the fire of life (the divine seed) in various forms, may those Waters be auspicious and pleasant to us.

The Waters, within which King Varuna moves, observing the truth and falsehood of mankind.

The sweet-dripping, pure, and purifying Waters, may those Waters be auspicious and pleasant to us.

The Waters which the gods drink in the heavens and which manifest in many ways in the atmosphere.

The bright Waters that nourish the earth with their essence, may those Waters be auspicious and pleasant to us.

O Waters, look upon me with a benevolent eye, and with your auspicious form, touch my skin (to purify me).

I invoke all the fires that dwell within the waters; bestow upon me luster, strength, and vitality.

(Perform self-purification. The Aghamarshana Mantra for the liberation from sins: take water in the palm, breathe over it, and cast it to the left.)

May the Lord release me from the sins that bind me, just as one is released from a post to which they are tied.

May the waters cleanse me of all impurities and sins, just as perspiration is washed away after a bath.

May these holy waters, purified by the sacred rite, cleanse me of all my sins. (Followed by the sipping of water while chanting the names of Lord Vishnu).

Perform the breathing exercises (Pranayama) and state the brief intent of the prayer.

In this auspicious moment, endowed with all the specific qualities mentioned previously.

For the sake of destroying all the sins I have accumulated, and to please the Supreme Lord Parameshwara, I shall perform the morning Sandhya-Vandana, including the offering of water (Arghya) at the appropriate time. (The Mantras for the morning Arghya follow).

Om. We meditate upon the supreme, adorable glory of the Divine Sun (Savitr), who created the celestial, earthly, and intermediate realms. May He awaken and direct our intellects.

He (the Divine) is the Sun dwelling in the bright heavens, the Vasu in the intermediate atmosphere, the priest at the altar, the guest in the house, and the dweller among all men.

He dwells in the highest, He dwells in the divine law, He dwells in the ether; He is born in the water, born in the earth, born in the sacred law, and born in the mountains. He is the Truth, the Great One. (The Mantras for the evening Arghya follow).

Om. We meditate upon the divine glory of the Creator who pervades the celestial, earthly, and intermediate realms.

We meditate upon the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun.

May He inspire and direct our intellects.

Om, the Earth, the Atmosphere, the Heavens, the World of Great Beings, the World of Creative Power, the World of Asceticism, and the Truth.

Om, we meditate upon the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun.

May He inspire and direct our intellects.

Om, the waters, the light, the essence, the nectar of immortality, the Supreme Brahman; the Earth, the Atmosphere, and the Heavens—Om.

(Perform sipping of water)

At this auspicious time, endowed with the aforementioned qualities, for the sake of cleansing my accumulated sins and for the pleasure of the Supreme Lord, I perform this fourth offering of water (Arghya) to rectify the sin of delay in performing this rite. Om, Earth, Atmosphere, Heavens.

We meditate upon the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun.

May He inspire and direct our intellects.

Om Bhuh (the physical plane), Om Bhuvah (the atmospheric plane), Om Suvah (the celestial plane), Om Mahah (the realm of glory), Om Janah (the realm of creative life), Om Tapah (the realm of spiritual radiance), Om Satyam (the realm of ultimate truth).

We meditate upon the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun (Savitr).

May He inspire and guide our intellects.

Om is the waters, the light, the essence, the nectar of immortality, the Supreme Brahman, and the manifestations of the physical, atmospheric, and celestial planes.

(Thus, one should release the water) with a circumambulation while holding water.

By meditating upon the Sun as it rises and sets, the wise seeker who knows the truth attains all auspiciousness.

This very Sun is indeed the Supreme Brahman.

One who knows this truth, being Brahman himself, attains Brahman. This Sun is indeed Brahman.

(Afterwards, take water in the hand and perform a circumambulation.)

(Perform sipping of water twice and three rhythmic breath regulations [Pranayama].) The ritual of Tarpanam as a limb of Sandhya Vandanam.

(Perform sipping of water while chanting the names of Lord Vishnu—Keshavaya Svaha, etc.—concluding with a salutation to the Supreme Brahman, Lord Krishna.)

Morning Libations (Tarpanam)

For the removal of all sins acquired by me and to attain the grace of the Supreme Lord (Parameshwara), I shall perform the morning Sandhya-Tarpanam.

I offer libations to Sandhya, I offer libations to Gayatri, I offer libations to Brahmi, I offer libations to Nimrji. Midday Libations (Tarpanam)

I offer libations to Sandhya, I offer libations to Savitri, I offer libations to Raudri, I offer libations to Nimrji. Evening Libations (Tarpanam)

I offer libations to Sandhya, I offer libations to Saraswati, I offer libations to Vaishnavi, I offer libations to Nimrji. (Perform Achamanam again) Invoking Gayatri

The sacred syllable "Om" is the ultimate Brahman. Agni is its presiding deity, and it is revealed by the sages.

Gayatri is its meter, and its form is that of the Supreme Self. Its application is for attaining union with the Divine. (Taittiriya Aranyaka 10.33). O Goddess who grants boons, come to me; you are the manifestation of the eternal Brahman.

O Mother of all Vedic meters, O Gayatri, please accept this prayer offered by me, the seeker of Brahman.

Whatever sin I have committed during the day, may that sin be dissolved by this prayer.

Whatever sin I have committed during the night, I am released from it by this night.

O Great Goddess, O Knowledge of Sandhya, O Saraswati, who encompasses all colors! You are the essence of vitality, you are power, you are strength, you are radiance, you are the divine abode, you are the name of the gods, you are the universe, you are the life of the universe, you are everything, you are the life of all, you are the conqueror—Om.

I invoke Gayatri, I invoke Savitri, I invoke Saraswati, I invoke the Rishis of the meters, I invoke Shri (the Goddess of prosperity).

For the Gayatri mantra, the meter is Gayatri, the seer is Vishvamitra, the presiding deity is Savita (the Sun), and Agni is its face.

Brahma is its head, Vishnu is its heart, Rudra is its tuft (shikha), and the Earth is its origin.

It resides in the five vital breaths (Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana, and Samana), it is accompanied by life, it is white in color, it belongs to the Sankhyayana Gotra, and the Gayatri has twenty-four syllables.

It has three feet, six bellies, and five heads; it is employed for the purpose of the sacred thread ceremony (Upanayana).

Om Bhuh (the Earth), Om Bhuvah (the Atmosphere), Om Suvah (Heaven), Om Mahah (the realm of greatness), Om Janah (the realm of beings), Om Tapah (the realm of austerity), Om Satyam (the realm of Truth).

Om. We meditate upon the supreme splendor of the Divine Sun (Savita).

May He inspire and guide our intellects.

Om. Water, light, essence, nectar, the Absolute (Brahman), the physical, astral, and celestial realms; Om. (Having performed Achamanam—sipping water while reciting the names of the Lord, beginning with Kesava and ending with salutations to the Supreme Krishna—the resolution for Gayatri Japa begins.)

In this auspicious time, qualified by all the aforementioned virtues and characteristics,

And for the sake of destroying the sins accumulated by me,

With the intention of pleasing the Supreme Lord Parameshwara,

I shall perform the recitation of the great Gayatri Mantra, which is an integral part of Sandhya Vandanam, to the best of my ability. (Karanyasa begins.)

Om, "Tat Savituh," to the essence of Brahma in the thumbs, salutations.

"Varenyam," to the essence of Vishnu in the index fingers, salutations.

"Bhargo Devasya," to the essence of Rudra in the middle fingers, salutations.

"Dheemahi," to the essence of Truth in the ring fingers, salutations.

"Dhiyo Yo Nah," to the essence of Supreme Knowledge in the little fingers, salutations.

May He, the Soul of all, impel us; salutations to the palms and backs of the hands. (Anga Nyasa - ritual placement of limbs).

Om, to that Divine Creator, the Soul of Brahma; salutations to the heart.

To the Most Excellent One, the Soul of Vishnu; salutations to the head.

To the Radiance of the Divine, the Soul of Rudra; salutations to the tuft of hair on the crown.

To the One we meditate upon, the Soul of Truth; salutations to the protective armor of the body.

To the One who guides our intellects, the Soul of Knowledge; salutations to the three eyes.

To the One who impels us, the Soul of all; salutations to the weapon (for protection).

Om, the worlds of Earth, Mid-region, and Heaven; (with this) I bind the directions. (Meditation).

With faces of pearl, coral, gold, sapphire, and brilliant white hues, and adorned with three eyes each.

United with the moon, wearing a crown set with precious gems, You are the embodiment of the essence of all letters and truths.

I meditate upon the Gayatri, who holds in her hands the gesture of granting boons and dispelling fear, as well as the goad, the whip, a radiant skull, and armlets.

I worship her who carries the conch, the discus, and a pair of lotus flowers in her hands. These are the twenty-four mudras (gestures) to be displayed.

Sumukha, Samputa, Vitata, and Vistrita.

Dvimukha, Trimukha, Chaturmukha, and Panchamukha.

Shanmukha, Adhomukha, Vyapaka, and Anjalika.

Shakata, Yamapasha, Grathita, Sammukha, and Unmukha.

Pralamba, Mushtika, Matsya, Kurma, and Varahaka.

Simhakranta, Mahakranta, Mudgara, and Pallava. These twenty-four mudras are firmly established in the practice of the Gayatri.

[He who does not know these mudras finds the Gayatri practice to be fruitless.] May that Divine Sun (Savitr) inspire our intellects toward righteousness and virtue.

We meditate upon that adorable, supreme effulgence of the Divine Creator, that He may guide our thoughts. This is the Gayatri Mantra.

Om. May we contemplate the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun, who dwells in the physical, subtle, and causal realms; may He stimulate and illuminate our intellects.

May this offering be dedicated to the Supreme Brahman. This concludes the Japa.

(Perform sipping of water while chanting): Salutations to Lord Keshava, Narayana, Madhava, Govinda, Vishnu, Madhusudana, Trivikrama, Vamana, Shridhara, Hrishikesha, Padmanabha, Damodara, Sankarshana, Vasudeva, Pradyumna, Aniruddha, Purushottama, Adhokshaja, Narasimha, Achyuta, Janardana, Upendra, Hari, and Lord Krishna, the Supreme Brahman; to Him, I offer my repeated salutations.

To attain the grace of the Supreme Lord and to ensure the destruction of all my accumulated sins, I now perform the concluding rituals of the Gayatri Mahamantra, which is an integral part of my morning sandhya. (Beginning Karanyasa).

Om, "Tat Savituh" (to that divine effulgence) - I salute the essence of Brahma with my thumbs.

"Varenyam" (the most adorable) - I salute the essence of Vishnu with my index fingers.

"Bhargo Devasya" (the brilliance of the Divine) - I salute the essence of Rudra with my middle fingers.

"Dheemahi" (we meditate upon) - I salute the essence of Truth with my ring fingers.

"Dhiyo Yo Nah" (may He who governs our intellects) - I salute the essence of Knowledge with my little fingers.

"Prachodayat" (may He inspire/guide) - I salute the essence of the Universal Self with the palms and backs of my hands. (Beginning Anganyasa).

Om. Unto that Supreme Creator who is the essence of Brahma, I offer my salutations to the Heart.

Unto that adorable One who is the essence of Vishnu, I offer this oblation to the Head.

Unto that Radiance of the Divine who is the essence of Rudra, I offer this sacrifice to the Tuft of hair.

Unto that Supreme Consciousness upon whom we meditate, who is the essence of Truth, I offer this protective armor.

Unto that Light which inspires our intellects and is the essence of all Knowledge, I offer this salutation to the three eyes.

Unto that Power which impels all beings and is the essence of the Universal Soul, I offer this final discharge as a weapon.

Om. The Earth, the Atmosphere, and the Heavens; with this, I release the directions. Meditation.

I meditate upon the Goddess whose five faces possess the luster of a pearl, coral, gold, sapphire, and white, each adorned with three eyes.

She is united with the moon, wears a crown set with precious gems, and is the embodiment of all truth and sacred syllables.

I meditate upon Gayatri, who holds in her hands the boon-granting mudra, the sign of fearlessness, the goad, the whip, the white skull, and the armlet.

I worship the Lord who holds the conch and the discus in His hands and whose feet are like lotus flowers. (Displaying the eight mudras)

Surabhi, Jnana, Chakra, Yoni, Kurma, Pankaja,

Linga, and Niryanamudra are known as the eight mudras.

May that Divine Sun (Savita) inspire our intellects toward righteousness and other virtuous paths.

We meditate upon that adorable radiance of the Divine. The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Lord Maheswara.

The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman Himself; salutations to that revered Guru.

May this act be dedicated to the Supreme Brahman, Om Tat Sat. (Perform Achamanam: Om Keshavaya Svaha... to Sri Krishna Parabrahmane Namo Namah). Sip water twice.

Sip water once.

[Wipe] the right hand.

[Wipe] the feet.

He sprinkles water upon his head.

He touches his eyes.

He touches his nostrils.

He touches his ears.

He touches his heart. Morning Sun worship (Suryopasthanam).

Om. We meditate upon the glorious and eternal fame of the Divine Friend (Mitra), who is the supporter of all mankind and worthy of supreme adoration.

He who is the embodiment of truth and possesses the most wondrous and brilliant fame.

Mitra guides all people by his knowledge; he sustains both the earth and the heavens.

Mitra watches over all beings with an unwinking eye; to this truth-upholding divinity, let us offer our oblations mingled with ghee.

May the mortal who offers oblations with devotion be prosperous; may he who follows the path of the Divine Sun be protected and attain success through his righteous conduct.

He is never slain, nor is He ever conquered; no sin can touch Him, and He remains neither confined by distance nor limited by proximity.

Om. He, the Divine Sun, traverses through the realm of truth, bringing all immortal and mortal beings into their designated states of existence.

Borne on a golden chariot, the divine Sun travels, beholding all the worlds. Looking upon the higher light beyond the darkness, we rise towards the Divine.

We have reached the Sun, the highest light among the gods. The rays of light carry upward this divine Knower of all births.

For all to behold the Sun.

The wonderful radiance of the gods has arisen, the eye of Mitra, Varuna, and Agni.

He has filled the heavens, the earth, and the space between; the Sun is the Soul of all that is moving and stationary. May we behold that divine eye, set before us by the gods, rising pure and brilliant.

May we behold for a hundred autumns; may we live for a hundred autumns.

May we rejoice for a hundred autumns; may we be delighted for a hundred autumns.

May we continue to exist for a hundred autumns; may we listen (to the wisdom of the Vedas) for a hundred autumns.

May we live for a hundred autumns, undefeated, and may we behold the sun for a hundred autumns.

He who rose from the great ocean, shining brilliantly from the midst of the waters,

the powerful bull with reddish eyes—may that Sun, the wise one, purify me with His radiance.

O Varuna, listen to this my invocation now, and be gracious to me; seeking your protection, I call upon you.

I approach You with prayers, imploring Your grace; the sacrificer invokes You with offerings, desiring Your favor.

O Varuna, do not be angry; remain here and bless me; do not shorten the span of my life. Since we violate Your sacred laws every day, just as mortals do in their ignorance,

and whatever offense we may have committed against the divine beings, O Varuna, or whatever sins we have committed as humans,

or whatever laws of Yours we have transgressed through thoughtlessness, do not punish us for those sins, O God.

Whether we have sinned like a gambler in a game of dice, or whether we have spoken untruths without knowing it,

unloose all these sins from us, O God; then may we be dear to You, O Varuna.

(With these, perform prostrations.)

Om. Salutations to the Eastern direction and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the Southern direction and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the Western direction and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the Northern direction and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the Zenith (upward direction) and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the Nadir (downward direction) and to the deities who reside within it; to them, I offer my salutations.

Om. Salutations to the intermediate directions and to the deities who reside within them; to them, I offer my salutations. (Prostrations to the Sages.)

Salutations to those who dwell between the Ganga and the Yamuna; may they be pleased with me and increase my longevity.

Salutations to the sages of the Ganga and Yamuna; salutations and again salutations to the sages of the Ganga and Yamuna. (Prostrations to the Sandhya deities.)

Salutations to Sandhya (the twilight divinity). Salutations to Savitri (the goddess of the sun). Salutations to Gayatri (the mother of the Vedas).

Salutations to Saraswati (the goddess of wisdom). Salutations to all the divine beings.

Salutations to the devas (celestial beings). Salutations to the rishis (seers). Salutations to the munis (sages).

Salutations to the gurus (teachers). Salutations to the pitrus (ancestors). Salutations again and again to that which acts as desire.

Salutations again and again to that which acts as anger. Salutations to the elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space. Om, salutations to the Supreme Lord Vasudeva. May all beings, both moving and stationary, always worship that which exists.

May that Sandhya (twilight), which is saluted at both evening and morning, protect me. Salutations to Shiva who is in the form of Vishnu, and to Vishnu who is in the form of Shiva.

Vishnu is the heart of Shiva, and Shiva is the heart of Vishnu.

Just as Vishnu is pervaded by Shiva, so too is Shiva pervaded by Vishnu.

As I see no difference between them, may there be well-being for me in my life.

Salutations to the Lord who protects the Vedas and is the well-wisher of cows and the virtuous (Brahmins).

Salutations again and again to Krishna, the benefactor of the world, and to Govinda.

O Goddess, who emerged at the highest peak, the summit of the earth (the mountain).

Having been permitted by the Brahmanas (the knowers of Brahman), O Goddess, depart and proceed as you please.

Having been praised by me, O Mother of the Vedas, you who bestow boons and inspire our intellects, now depart to your own abode.

Having granted me longevity, wealth, and spiritual luster, O Mother, go forth to the realm of Brahman.

Salutations to the Infinite One, who possesses a thousand forms, a thousand feet, a thousand eyes, a thousand heads, and a thousand arms.

Salutations to the Eternal Being, who is known by a thousand names and who sustains the world through billions of eons.

May this truth be established by heaven and earth. O Father and Mother, whatever I have requested of you, grant it to me.

May the protective grace of the gods be upon us. May I attain that knowledge which removes all sins and bestows the strength of life.

Just as rainwater falling from the sky reaches the ocean, salutations offered to all deities ultimately reach Lord Keshava (Vishnu).

By saying "Om Namah," one approaches Lord Kesava; whatever merit is acquired through all the Vedas and whatever fruit is obtained from visiting all the sacred pilgrimages—

that same fruit is attained by a person who offers prayers to Lord Janardhana.

By offering prayers to Lord Janardhana and saying "Om Namah."

Because He dwells within all and causes all to dwell within Him, He is Vasudeva, and the three worlds are pervaded by Him.

You are the indweller of all beings; O Lord Vasudeva, salutations to You.

O Lord Vasudeva, salutations to You; Om Namah. (The Abhivada/Salutation follows).

May auspiciousness be unto the Brahmanas in this land extending to the four oceans.

I, of such-and-such lineage (Gotra), such-and-such lineage group (Pravara), such-and-such school (Sutra), and such-and-such Vedic branch (Shakha), offer my humble salutations. (Perform Achamana: offering this to the Lord).

Whatever actions I perform, whether through my body, speech, mind, senses, intellect, or my inner soul, or through the inherent tendencies of my nature—

I surrender all of them unto the Supreme Lord Narayana.

Harih Om. That (Supreme Brahman) is the Truth.

May all of this be offered unto the Supreme Lord, Sri Parameshvara.
