Mahalakshmi Ashtakam

Indra said: Salutations to You, O Mahamaya (the Great Illusion), who resides in the abode of wealth (Shripitha) and is worshipped by the gods. Salutations to You, O Mahalakshmi, who holds a conch, a discus, and a mace in Your hands. (1)

Salutations to You, who is seated on Garuda, and who caused terror to the demon Kolasura. O Goddess Mahalakshmi, the destroyer of all sins, salutations to You. (2)

O omniscient one, the bestower of all boons, and the terror to all the wicked! O Goddess Mahalakshmi, the destroyer of all sorrows, salutations to You. (3)

O Goddess, the bestower of success and intelligence, the provider of worldly enjoyment and spiritual liberation! O Goddess Mahalakshmi, who is the very embodiment of the mantras (or purified by the mantras), salutations to You always. (4)

O Goddess without beginning or end, the primal power and the Supreme Ruler! O Mahalakshmi, who is born of yoga and who manifests through yoga, salutations to You. (5)

O Goddess who is both the gross and the subtle, the great fierce one, the great power, and the one with a vast womb (holding the universe)! O Goddess Mahalakshmi, the destroyer of great sins, salutations to You. (6)

O Goddess, seated on a lotus, who is the very form of the Supreme Brahman! O Supreme Sovereign and Mother of the Universe, O Mahalakshmi, salutations to You. (7)

O Goddess, dressed in white garments and adorned with various ornaments! O Mother of the Universe who pervades the entire world, O Mahalakshmi, salutations to You. (8)

Phalashruti (Fruits of recitation): The devoted person who reads this Mahalakshmi Ashtakam Stotram attains all success and always gains sovereignty.

Reading it once daily destroys great sins. He who reads it twice daily is endowed with wealth and grains.

He who reads it three times daily achieves the destruction of great enemies. Goddess Mahalakshmi, the pure bestower of boons, will always be pleased with him.

O Mahalakshmi, salutations to You.
