ಶ್ರೀಗಣೇಶಾಯ ನಮಃ ।
ಶ್ರೀವಿಷ್ಣ್ವಷ್ಟಕಮ್
Salutations to Lord Ganesha. The Shri Vishnu Ashtakam.
ವಿಷ್ಣುಂ ವಿಶಾಲಾರುಣಪದ್ಮನೇತ್ರಂ
ವಿಭಾನ್ತಮೀಶಾಂಬುಜಯೋನಿಪೂಜಿತಮ್ ।
ಸನಾತನಂ ಸನ್ಮತಿಶೋಧಿತಂ ಪರಂ
ಪುಮಾಂಸಮಾದ್ಯಂ ಸತತಂ ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ ॥ ೧॥
I constantly take refuge in Vishnu, whose eyes are like large reddish lotus flowers, who shines brightly, who is worshipped by Shiva and Brahma, who is eternal, purified by wise intellect, the supreme, primeval Being.
ಕಲ್ಯಾಣದಂ ಕಾಮಫಲಪ್ರದಾಯಕಂ
ಕಾರುಣ್ಯರೂಪಂ ಕಲಿಕಲ್ಮಷಘ್ನಮ್ ।
ಕಲಾನಿಧಿಂ ಕಾಮತನೂಜಮಾದ್ಯಂ
ನಮಾಮಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಶಮಹಂ ಮಹಾನ್ತಮ್ ॥ ೨॥
I bow to the great Lord of Lakshmi, who bestows auspiciousness, grants desired fruits, is the embodiment of compassion, destroys the impurities of Kali Yuga, is a treasure of arts/qualities, and is the primeval father of Kamadeva.
ಪೀತಾಂಬರಂ ಭೃಙ್ಗನಿಭಂ ಪಿತಾಮಹ-
ಪ್ರಮುಖ್ಯವನ್ದ್ಯಂ ಜಗದಾದಿದೇವಮ್ ।
ಕಿರೀಟಕೇಯೂರಮುಖೈಃ ಪ್ರಶೋಭಿತಂ
ಶ್ರೀಕೇಶವಂ ಸನ್ತತಮಾನತೋಽಸ್ಮಿ ॥ ೩॥
I constantly bow down to Shri Keshava, who is clad in yellow garments, dark like a bumblebee, worshipped primarily by Brahma, the primal deity of the universe, and adorned with a crown, armlets, and other ornaments.
ಭುಜಙ್ಗತಲ್ಪಂ ಭುವನೈಕನಾಥಂ
ಪುನಃ ಪುನಃ ಸ್ವೀಕೃತಕಾಯಮಾದ್ಯಮ್ ।
ಪುರನ್ದರಾದ್ಯೈರಪಿ ವನ್ದಿತಂ ಸದಾ
ಮುಕುನ್ದಮತ್ಯನ್ತಮನೋಹರಂ ಭಜೇ ॥ ೪॥
I worship Mukunda, whose couch is a serpent, who is the sole lord of the universe, the primeval one who repeatedly assumes forms, who is always worshipped even by Indra and others, and who is exceedingly charming.
ಕ್ಷೀರಾಂಬುರಾಶೇರಭಿತಃ ಸ್ಫುರನ್ತಂ
ಶಯಾನಮಾದ್ಯನ್ತವಿಹೀನಮವ್ಯಯಮ್ ।
ಸತ್ಸೇವಿತಂ ಸಾರಸನಾಭಮುಚ್ಚೈಃ
ವಿಘೋಷಿತಂ ಕೇಶಿನಿಷೂದನಂ ಭಜೇ ॥ ೫॥
I worship the slayer of Kesi, who reclines, shining all around the ocean of milk, who is without beginning or end, immutable, served by the virtuous, highly renowned for his lotus-navel, and widely proclaimed.
ಭಕ್ತಾರ್ತ್ತಿಹನ್ತಾರಮಹರ್ನ್ನಿಶನ್ತಂ
ಮುನೀನ್ದ್ರಪುಷ್ಪಾಞ್ಜಲಿಪಾದಪಙ್ಕಜಮ್ ।
ಭವಘ್ನಮಾಧಾರಮಹಾಶ್ರಯಂ ಪರಂ
ಪರಾಪರಂ ಪಙ್ಕಜಲೋಚನಂ ಭಜೇ ॥ ೬॥
I worship the lotus-eyed Lord, who destroys the sufferings of devotees day and night, whose lotus feet are worshipped with flower offerings by great sages, who destroys worldly existence, who is the great support and ultimate refuge, and who is supreme and transcendent.
ನಾರಾಯಣಂ ದಾನವಕಾನನಾನಲಂ
ನತಪ್ರಿಯಂ ನಾಮವಿಹೀನಮವ್ಯಯಮ್ ।
ಹರ್ತ್ತುಂ ಭುವೋ ಭಾರಮನನ್ತವಿಗ್ರಹಂ
ಸ್ವಸ್ವೀಕೃತಕ್ಷ್ಮಾವರಮೀಡಿತೋಽಸ್ಮಿ ॥ ೭॥
I praise Narayana, who is like a fire to the forest of demons, dear to his devotees, without specific names yet immutable, who assumed countless forms to alleviate the earth's burden, and who graciously took upon himself the role of earth's protector.
ನಮೋಽಸ್ತು ತೇ ನಾಥ! ವರಪ್ರದಾಯಿನ್
ನಮೋಽಸ್ತು ತೇ ಕೇಶವ! ಕಿಙ್ಕರೋಽಸ್ಮಿ ।
ನಮೋಽಸ್ತು ತೇ ನಾರದಪೂಜಿತಾಙ್ಘ್ರೇ
ನಮೋ ನಮಸ್ತ್ವಚ್ಚರಣಂ ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ ॥ ೮॥
Salutations to you, O Lord, bestower of boons! Salutations to you, O Keshava, I am your servant! Salutations to you, whose feet are worshipped by Narada! Again and again, salutations, I surrender to your feet.
ಫಲಶ್ರುತಿಃ
ವಿಷ್ಣ್ವಷ್ಟಕಮಿದಂ ಪುಣ್ಯಂ ಯಃ ಪಠೇದ್ಭಕ್ತಿತೋ ನರಃ ।
ಸರ್ವಪಾಪವಿನಿರ್ಮುಕ್ತೋ, ವಿಷ್ಣುಲೋಕಂ ಸ ಗಚ್ಛತಿ ॥
ಇತಿ ಶ್ರೀನಾರಾಯಣಗುರುವಿರಚಿತಂ ಶ್ರೀವಿಷ್ಣ್ವಷ್ಟಕಂ ಸಮ್ಪೂರ್ಣಮ್ ।
That person who recites this sacred Vishnu Ashtakam with devotion becomes free from all sins and attains the abode of Vishnu.
