(कात्यायन सूत्रानुसारम्)
श्री गुरुभ्यो नमः । हरिः ओम् ॥
॥ गुरु प्रार्थन ॥
Salutations to the holy Gurus. Hari Om. Invocation to the Guru.
ॐ-वँन्दे-ऽह-म्मङ्गलात्मान-म्भास्वन्तंवेँदविग्रहम् ।
I offer my salutations to the auspicious Self, the radiant One who is the embodiment of the Vedas.
याज्ञवल्क्य-म्मुनिश्रेष्ठ-ञ्जिष्णुं हरिहर प्रभुम् ॥
I salute the great sage Yajnavalkya, the conqueror, the lord who is the essence of Hari and Hara.
जितेन्द्रिय-ञ्जितक्रोधं सदाध्यानपरायणम् ।
I bow to the one who has conquered his senses and anger, and who is ever immersed in deep meditation.
आनन्दनिलयं-वँन्दे योगानन्द मुनीश्वरम् ॥
I worship the great sage Yogananda, the abode of supreme bliss.
एव-न्द्वादश नामानि त्रिसन्ध्या यः पठेन्नरः ।
Any person who recites these twelve names during the three junctures of the day—
योगीश्वर प्रसादेन विद्यावा-न्धनवा-न्भवेत् ॥
By the grace of the Lord of Yogis, shall become endowed with wisdom and prosperity.
ॐ श्री याज्ञवल्क्य गुरुभ्यो नमः ।
Salutations to the holy Guru Yajnavalkya.
कण्वकात्यायनादि महर्षिभ्यो नमः ॥
गुरुर्ब्रह्म गुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
Salutations to the great sages beginning with Kanva and Katyayana. The Guru is Brahma, the Guru is Vishnu, the Guru is Lord Maheshwara.
गुरुस्साक्षा-त्परब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥
The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman; salutations to that noble Guru.
गुरवे सर्वलोकाना-म्भिषजे भवरोगिणाम् ।
Salutations to the Guru of all the worlds, the physician who heals the maladies of worldly existence.
निधये सर्वविद्याना-न्दक्षिणामूर्तये नमः ॥
Salutations to Dakshinamurti, who is the repository of all knowledge.
अपवित्रः पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्था-ङ्गतो-ऽपि वा ।
Whether one is in a state of impurity or purity, or in any condition whatsoever,
यस्स्मरेत्पुण्डरीकाक्षं स बाह्याभ्यन्तरश्शुचिः ॥
he who remembers the Lotus-Eyed Lord (Vishnu) becomes pure both externally and internally.
पुण्डरीकाक्ष पुण्डरीकाक्ष पुण्डरीकाक्षाय नमः ॥
गोविन्देति सदास्नान-ङ्गोविन्देति सदा जपः ।
Salutations to the Lotus-Eyed Lord. Constant remembrance of Govinda is equivalent to a sacred bath, and chanting the name of Govinda is equivalent to constant prayer.
गोविन्देति सदा ध्यानं सदा गोविन्द कीर्तनम् ॥
॥ आचमनम् ॥
Always meditating on Govinda and always singing the glories of Govinda is the highest state. (Sipping of water)

1. Om, unto Keshava, I offer this oblation.
2. ओ-न्नारायणाय स्वाहा
2. Om, unto Narayana, I offer this oblation.
3. ओ-म्माधवाय स्वाहा
3. Om, unto Madhava, I offer this oblation.
4. ओ-ङ्गोविन्दाय नमः
Salutations to Govinda, the protector and source of joy for all beings.
5. ॐ-विँष्णवे नमः
Salutations to Vishnu, the all-pervading Lord who sustains the universe.
6. ओ-म्मधुसूदनाय नमः
Salutations to Madhusudana, the destroyer of the demon Madhu and the slayer of ignorance.
7. ओ-न्त्रिविक्रमाय नमः
Salutations to Trivikrama, the Lord who measured the three worlds with His three divine strides.
8. ॐ-वाँमनाय नमः
Salutations to Vamana, the Lord who assumed the form of a dwarf to restore cosmic order.
9. ॐ श्रीधराय नमः
Salutations to Shridhara, the Lord who bears the Goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi, within Himself.
10. ॐ हृषीकेशाय नमः
Salutations to Hrishikesha, the Lord of the senses and the inner controller of all beings.
11. ओ-म्पद्मनाभाय नमः
Salutations to Padmanabha, the Lord from whose lotus-navel the entire universe has emerged.
12. ओ-न्दामोदराय नमः
Salutations to Damodara, the Lord who was bound by the cords of divine love.
13. ॐ सङ्कर्षणाय नमः
Salutations to Sankarshana, the Lord who draws all creation back into Himself at the time of dissolution.
14. ॐ-वाँसुदेवाय नमः
Om, salutations to Lord Vasudeva.
15. ओ-म्प्रद्युम्नाय नमः
Om, salutations to Lord Pradyumna.
16. ॐ अनिरुद्धाय नमः
Om, salutations to Lord Aniruddha.
17. ओ-म्पुरुषोत्तमाय नमः
Om, salutations to the Supreme Person (Purushottama).
18. ॐ अथोक्षजाय नमः
Om, salutations to Lord Adhokshaja.
19. ओ-न्नारसिंहाय नमः
Om, salutations to the Man-Lion incarnation (Narasimha).
20. ॐ अच्युताय नमः
Om, salutations to the Imperishable One (Achyuta).
21. ओ-ञ्जनार्दनाय नमः
Om, salutations to the destroyer of suffering (Janardana).
22. ॐ उपेन्द्राय नमः
Om, salutations to the younger brother of Indra (Upendra).
23. ॐ हरये नमः
Om, salutations to the Lord who removes all sins (Hari).
24. ॐ श्री कृष्णाय नमः
॥ भूमि प्रार्थन ॥
पृथिवीत्यस्य, मेरुपृष्ठ ऋषिः, कूर्मो देवता, सुतल-ञ्छन्दः, आसने विनियोगः ।
ओ-म्पृथ्वी त्वया धृता लोका देवि त्वं-विँष्णुना धृता ।
Salutations to Lord Krishna. (Prayer to the Earth): For this earth-mantra, Meru-prishtha is the seer, Kurma is the presiding deity, Sutala is the meter; it is used for the seating. O Earth, you hold the worlds, and you, O Goddess, are held by Lord Vishnu.
त्व-ञ्च धारय मा-न्देवि पवित्र-ङ्कुरु चासनम् ।
॥ प्राणायामम् ॥
प्रणवस्य परब्रह्म ऋषिः, परमात्मा देवता, दैवी गायत्री छन्दः ।
O Goddess, support me as well; make this seat holy and pure. (Pranayama): For the Pranava (Om), Parabrahman is the seer, Paramatma is the deity, and Daivi Gayatri is the meter.
सप्तानां-व्याँहृतीना-म्प्रजापति ऋषिः, अग्नि-वायु-सूर्य-बृहस्पति-वरुणेन्द्र-विश्वेदेवा देवताः, गायत्र्युष्णिक् अनुष्टुप् बृहती पङ्क्तिः, त्रिष्टुब्जगत्यश्छन्दांसि ।
For the seven Vyahritis, Prajapati is the seer; Agni, Vayu, Surya, Brihaspati, Varuna, Indra, and the Vishvadevas are the deities; Gayatri, Ushnik, Anushtubh, Brihati, Pankti, Trishtubh, and Jagati are the meters.
तत्सवितुरित्यस्य विश्वामित्र ऋषिः, सविता देवता, गायत्री छन्दः ।
For the "Tat Savitur" (Gayatri) mantra, Vishvamitra is the seer, Savita is the deity, and Gayatri is the meter.
शिरोमन्त्रस्य प्रजापति ऋषिः, ब्रह्म-अग्नि-वायु-सूर्या देवताः, यजुश्छन्दः ।
For the Shiro-mantra, Prajapati is the seer; Brahman, Agni, Vayu, and Surya are the deities; Yajush is the meter.
प्राणायामे विनियोगः ।
ओ-म्भूः । ओ-म्भुवः॑ । ओग्ं सुवः॑ । ओ-म्महः॑ । ओ-ञ्जनः॑ । ओ-न्तपः॑ । ओग्ं सत्यम् ।
Used for Pranayama: Om Bhuh (Earth), Om Bhuvah (Atmosphere), Om Suvah (Heaven), Om Mahah (Greatness), Om Janah (Creation), Om Tapah (Penance), Om Satyam (Truth).
ओ-न्तत्स॑वि॒तुर्वरे॑ण्य॒-म्भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धीमहि । धियो॒ यो नः॑ प्रचो॒दया॑त् ॥
We meditate upon the excellent splendor of the Divine Sun; may He illuminate our intellects.
ॐ आपो॒ ज्योती॒ रसो॒मृत॒-म्ब्रह्म॒ भूर्भुव॒स्स्व॒रोम् ।
॥ सङ्कल्पम् ॥
Om, the waters, the light, the essence, the nectar, the Brahman, and the worlds of Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Suvah—all are Om. (Sankalpam/Resolution).
मम उपात्त समस्त दुरितक्षय द्वारा श्रीपरमेश्वरमुद्दिश्य श्रीपरमेश्वर प्रीत्यर्थं शुभे शोभने मुहूर्ते श्री महाविष्णोराज्ञया प्रवर्तमानस्य अद्य ब्रह्मणः द्वितीय परार्थे श्वेतवराह कल्पे वैवस्वत मन्वन्तरे कलियुगे प्रथमपादे जम्बूद्वीपे भारतवर्षे भरतखण्डे मेरोर्दक्षिण दिग्भागे श्रीशैलस्य …… प्रदेशे ……, …… नद्योः मध्य प्रदेशे मङ्गल गृहे अस्मिन् वर्तमन व्यावहरिक चान्द्रमानेन स्वस्ति श्री …….. ॥ मार्जनमु ॥
With the desire to destroy all my accumulated sins and for the pleasure of the Supreme Lord Parameshvara, at this auspicious moment—by the command of Lord Maha Vishnu—in the second half of the life of Brahma, in the Shveta Varaha Kalpa, in the Vaivasvata Manvantara, in the first quarter of Kali Yuga, in Jambudvipa, in the land of Bharatavarsha, in the region of Bharata Khanda, to the south of Mount Meru, in the region of [Place Name], between the rivers [River Names], in this auspicious dwelling, in the currently prevailing lunar year of [Year Name], in the [Ayana], in the [Season], in the [Month], during the [Fortnight], on the [Tithi], on this [Day], under the [Nakshatra], with the [Yoga] and [Karana]—on this auspicious day, I, [Name] of [Gotra] lineage (together with my wife), for the pleasure of Parameshvara and to attain the fruits and the capacity to perform my daily Shrauta and Smarta rituals, shall perform the Morning/Midday/Evening Sandhya worship.
गङ्गे च यमुने कृष्णे गोदावरी सरस्वती ।
O Ganges, Yamuna, Krishna, Godavari, and Saraswati.
नर्मदे सिन्धु कावेरी जले-ऽस्मिन् सन्निधि-ङ्कुरु ॥
आपोहिष्ठेति तिसृणाम्, सिन्धुद्वीप ऋषिः, आपो देवता, गायत्री छन्दः, मार्जने विनियोगः ।
ॐ आपो॒ हिष्ठा म॑यो॒भुवः॑ । (पादमुल पै)
O Waters of the Narmada, Sindhu, and Kaveri, be present in this water. I now perform the purification (Marjana) using the three verses beginning with "Apohishtha," attributed to the Rishi Sindhudvipa, with Apah as the deity and Gayatri as the meter. O Waters, you are the source of true happiness.
ओ-न्ता न॑ ऊ॒र्जे द॑धातन । (शिरस्सु पै)
Grant us strength and nourishment.
ओ-म्म॒हेरणा॑य॒ चक्ष॑से । (हृदयमु पै)
And grant us the vision to behold the Great Splendor.
ॐ-योँ व॑श्शि॒वत॑मो॒ रसः॑ । (शिरस्सु पै)
You possess that essence which is most auspicious and life-giving.
ओ-न्तस्य॑ भाजयते॒ ह नः॑ । (हृदयमु पै)
Allow us to share in that essence.
ॐ उ॒श॒तीरि॑व मा॒त॑रः । (पादमुल पै)
Just as loving mothers nourish their children, shower your blessings upon us.
ओ-न्तस्मा॒ अर॑ङ्गमामवः । (हृदयमु पै)
May we attain the source of your sustaining grace.
ॐ-यँस्य॒ क्षया॑य॒ जिन्व॑थ । (पादमुल पै)
And may we attain the dwelling place for which you provide such abundance.
ॐ आपो॑ ज॒नय॑था च नः । (शिरस्सु पै)
॥ मन्त्राचमनम् ॥
(प्रातः काले)
O Waters, grant us a new birth of spiritual vitality. (This concludes the Mantra Achamanam for the morning).
सूर्यश्चेति मन्त्रस्य, उपनिषद्याज्ञवल्क्य ऋषिः, सूर्यो देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, उदक प्राशने विनियोगः ।
ॐ सूर्यश्च मा मन्युश्च मन्युपतयश्च मन्यु॑कृते॒भ्यः ।
For this Mantra "Suryashcha," the Rishi is Yajnavalkya of the Upanishads, the deity is Surya, and the meter is Anushtup; it is employed for the intake of water. May the Sun, the presiding deities of anger, and the lords of anger protect me from the consequences of my anger.
पापेभ्यो॑ रक्ष॒न्ताम् । यद्रात्र्या पाप॑मका॒र्षम् ।
May I be protected from sins. Whatever sins I have committed during the night,
मनसा वाचा॑ हस्ता॒भ्याम् । पद्भ्यामुदरे॑ण शि॒श्ना ।
Whether through my mind, my speech, my hands, my feet, my stomach, or my reproductive organs,
रात्रि॒स्तद॑वलु॒म्पतु । यत्किञ्च॑ दुरि॒त-म्मयि॑ ।
May the night wash away all that impurity that resides within me.
इ॒दम॒ह-म्माममृत॑यो॒नौ ।
I now offer myself into the source of immortality.
सूर्ये ज्योतिषि जुहो॑मि स्वा॒हा ।
(मध्याह्न काले)
I offer this oblation into the light of the Sun. Svaha.
आपः पुनन्त्विति मन्त्रस्य, नारायण ऋषिः, आपो देवता, गायत्री छन्दः, उदक प्राशने विनियोगः ।
आपः॑ पुनन्तु पृथि॒वी-म्पृथि॒वी पू॒ता पु॑नातु॒ माम् ।
For the mantra "Apah Punantu," the seer is Narayana, the deity is the Waters (Apah), the meter is Gayatri, and it is used for the ritual sipping of water. May the waters purify the earth, and may the earth, being purified, purify me.
पु॒नन्तु॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पति॒र्ब्रह्म॑पू॒ता पु॑नातु माम् ॥
May the Lord of sacred wisdom (Brahmanaspati) purify me, and may the sacred knowledge, being purified, purify me.
यदुच्छि॑ष्टमभो᳚ज्य॒-ञ्च यद्वा॑ दु॒श्चरि॑त॒-म्मम॑ ।
Whatever remains as leftovers, whatever is unfit for consumption, or whatever evil I have committed,
सर्व॑-म्पुनन्तु॒ मामापो॑-ऽस॒ता-ञ्च॑ प्रति॒ग्रह॒ग्ं स्वाहा᳚ ॥
(साय-ङ्काले)
May the waters purify me of all these, including the acceptance of gifts from unworthy sources. Svaha.
अग्निश्चेति मन्त्रस्य, याज्ञवल्क्य उपनिषदृषिः, अग्निर्देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, उदक प्राशने विनियोगः ।
अग्निश्च मा मन्युश्च मन्युपतयश्च मन्यु॑कृते॒भ्यः ।
For the mantra "Agnishcha," the seer is Yajnavalkya, the deity is Agni, the meter is Anushtup, and it is used for the ritual sipping of water. May Agni, along with the presiding deity of anger and the lords of anger, protect me from the sins committed due to anger.
पापेभ्यो॑ रक्ष॒न्ताम् । यदह्ना पाप॑मका॒र्षम् ।
May I be protected from sins. Whatever sin I have committed during the day.
मनसा वाचा॑ हस्ता॒भ्याम् । पद्भ्यामुदरे॑ण शि॒श्ना ।
Through my mind, my speech, my hands, my feet, my stomach, or my reproductive organs.
अह॒स्तद॑वलु॒म्पतु । यत्किञ्च॑ दुरि॒त-म्मयि॑ ।
May the divinity of the day remove all such evil that resides within me.
इ॒दम॒ह-म्माममृत॑यो॒नौ । सत्ये ज्योतिषि जुहो॑मि स्वा॒हा ।
॥ पुनर्मार्जनम् ॥
आचम्य (चे.) ॥
ओ-म्भूर्भुव॒स्स्वः॑ ।
I offer myself into the source of immortality, into the supreme light of Truth. Om, the earth, the mid-regions, and the heavens.
तत्स॑वि॒तुर्वरे॑ण्य॒-म्भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धीमहि ।
We meditate upon the most excellent, radiant effulgence of the divine Sun (Savitr).
धियो॒ यो नः॑ प्रचो॒दया॑त् ॥
आपो॒ हिष्ठा म॑यो॒भुव॒स्ता न॑ ऊ॒र्जे द॑धातन ।
May He inspire and direct our intellects. O Waters, you are the sources of happiness; nourish us so that we may possess vitality and strength.
म॒हेरणा॑य॒ चक्ष॑से ।
And enable us to behold the grand, auspicious vision of the Divine.
यो व॑श्शि॒वत॑मो रस॒स्तस्य॑ भाजयते॒ ह नः॑ ।
Grant us a portion of that essence of yours which is the most auspicious, O Waters.
उ॒श॒तीरि॑व मा॒त॑रः ।
Just as loving mothers do to their children.
तस्मा॒ अर॑ङ्गमामवो॒ यस्य॒ क्षया॑य॒ जिन्व॑थ ।
We approach you, whose abode we inhabit, and by whom we are enlivened, for the sake of our sustenance.
आपो॑ ज॒नय॑था च नः ।
॥ अघमर्षणम् ॥
O Waters, grant us new life and birth. (This concludes the Aghamarshana hymn).
द्रुपदा दिवेत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, कोकिल राजपुत्र ऋषिः, आपो देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, अघमर्षणे विनियोगः ।
ओ-न्द्रु॒प॒दा दि॑व मुञ्चतु । द्रु॒प॒दा दि॒वेन्मु॑मुचा॒नः ।
For the mantra beginning "Drupada diva," the seer is Kokila Rajaputra, the deity is the Waters, the meter is Anushtup, and it is used for the removal of sins. May the Lord release me from the sins that bind me, like a stake in the sky, just as one is released from a post.
स्वि॒न्न-स्स्ना॒त्वी मला॑दिव । पू॒त-म्प॒वित्रे॑णे॒वाज्य᳚म् ।
As one who has sweated is cleansed by a bath, or as clarified butter is purified by a strainer, may I be cleansed.
आपः॑ शुन्धन्तु॒ मैन॑सः । (तै.ब्रा.2.6.6.4)
शत्रुक्षयार्थ मार्जनम् ॥
May the Waters purify me of my sins. (This act of sprinkling is for the destruction of enemies).
सुमित्रान इत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, प्रजापति ऋषिः, आपो देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, शत्रुक्षयार्थे विनियोगः ।
ॐ सु॒मि॒त्रा न॒ आप॒ ओष॑धय-स्सन्तु । दु॒र्मि॒त्रास्तस्मै॑ भुयासुः ।
For the mantra beginning "Sumitra na," the seer is Prajapati, the deity is the Waters, the meter is Anushtup, and it is used for the destruction of enemies. O Waters and herbs, may you be friendly to us, and may you be unfriendly to those who harbor ill will against us.
यो᳚-ऽस्मान्द्वेष्टि॑ । य-ञ्च॑ व॒य-न्द्वि॒ष्मः । (तै.ब्रा.2.6.6.3)
पापक्षयार्थ मार्जनम् ॥
To those who hate us and to those whom we hate. (This act of sprinkling is for the destruction of sins).
इदमाप इत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, उचक्थ्य ऋषिः, आपो देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, दुरितक्षयार्थ मार्जने विनियोगः ।
ॐ इ॒दमा॑पः॒ प्रव॑हत॒ यत्कि-ञ्च॑ दुरि॒त-म्मयि॑ ।
For the mantra beginning "Idam apah," the seer is Ucakthya, the deity is the Waters, the meter is Anushtup, and it is used for sprinkling to remove all impurities. O Waters, carry away whatever evil or impurity exists within me.
यद्वा॒हम॑भिदु॒द्रोह॒ यद्वा॑ शे॒प उ॒तानृ॑तम् ॥
॥ अर्घ्यप्रदानमु ॥
आचम्य (चे.) ॥
Whether I have committed any wrong, or have uttered curses, or have spoken untruth. (Proffering of the Arghyam/Water-offering. Perform sipping of water).
प्राणानायम्य (चे.) ॥
पूर्वोक्त एव-ङ्गुण विशेषण विशिष्टायां शुभतिथौ (कालातिक्रमणदोष निवृत्यर्थ-म्प्रायश्चित्तार्घ्य पूर्वक) प्रातः/माध्याह्निक/सायं सन्ध्याङ्ग अर्घ्यप्रदान-ङ्करिष्ये ॥
भूर्भुवस्स्वरिति महाव्याहृतीनाम्, परमेष्ठी प्रजापति ऋषिः, अग्नि-वायु-सूर्या देवताः, गायत्र्युष्णिक् अनुष्टुप्छन्दांसि ।
(Perform breath regulation/Pranayama). On this auspicious day, endowed with all specified divine qualities, I shall now perform the offering of Arghyam as part of the morning/midday/evening Sandhya ritual (for the atonement of the sin of missing the scheduled time). Regarding the great utterances Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Suvah, the seer is Parameshthi Prajapati, the deities are Agni, Vayu, and Surya, and the meters are Gayatri, Ushnik, and Anushtup.
तत्सवितुरित्यस्य, विश्वामित्र ऋषिः, सविता देवता, गायत्री छन्दः, अर्घ्यप्रदाने विनियोगः ।
ओ-म्भूर्भुव॒स्स्वः॑ । ओ-न्तत्स॑वितु॒र्वरे॑ण्य॒म् । भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धी॒महि । धियो॒ यो नः॑ प्रचो॒दया॑त् ॥
श्री पद्मिनी उषा सौज्ञा छाया समेत श्री सूर्यनारायण परब्रह्मणे नमः । इदमर्घ्यं समर्पयामि ।
(प्रातः काले)
For the mantra beginning "Tat Savitur," the seer is Vishvamitra, the deity is Savitr, the meter is Gayatri, and it is used for the offering of Arghyam. Om, the worlds of Earth, Mid-region, and Heaven. We meditate upon the supreme splendor of the divine Sun, Savitr; may He illuminate and inspire our intellects. Salutations to the Supreme Divine Sun, who is accompanied by Padmini, Usha, Samjna, and Chhaya. I offer this water unto Thee. (Morning time).
उषस्त इत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, गौतम ऋषिः, उषो देवता, उष्णिक्छन्दः, प्रायश्चित्तार्घ्य प्रदाने विनियोगः ।

For this mantra beginning with "Ushah," the seer is Gautama, the deity is Ushas (the Dawn), the meter is Ushnik; it is employed for the offering of the expiatory oblation (Arghya). O Divine Dawn, bring to us that wonderful prosperity, possessing abundant food, through which we may sustain our children and our descendants.

The Divine Savitr travels in His golden chariot, beholding all the worlds.

The Night has traversed the earthly realm, reaching the abode of her father, the Heaven. She, the vast one, stands manifest, and her formidable darkness spreads forth.

For the ritual of circumambulation: for this mantra "Asau Adityah," the seer is Brahma, the deity is Aditya, the meter is Anushtubh; it is employed for the circumambulation of the earth. That yonder Sun is indeed the Supreme Brahman.
गायत्र्या, व्यास ऋषिः, ब्रह्मा देवता, गायत्री छन्दः, प्रात-स्सन्ध्या तर्पणे विनियोगः ।

For the Gayatri, the seer is Vyasa, the deity is Brahma, the meter is Gayatri; it is employed for the morning twilight water-libation (Tarpanam). May the Cosmic Being (Purusha) be satisfied.

May the Supreme Being (Purusha), who dwells in the terrestrial, celestial, and intermediate realms, be propitiated.
चित्र-न्देवानामित्यस्याः, कुत्स ऋषिः, सूर्यो देवता, त्रिष्टुप्छन्दः, सूर्योपस्थाने विनियोगः ॥
ॐ उदु॒त्य-ञ्जा॒तवे॑दस-न्दे॒वं-वँ॑हन्ति के॒तवः॑। दृ॒शे विश्वा॑य॒ सूर्य॑म् ॥
The rays of light bear upward the Divine Sun, the knower of all beings, so that He may be beheld by the entire universe.
ओ-ञ्चि॒त्र-न्दे॒वाना॒मुद॑गा॒दनी॑क॒-ञ्चक्षु॑र्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्या॒ग्नेः । आप्रा॒द्यावा॑ पृथि॒वी अ॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒ग्॒ सूर्य॑ आ॒त्मा जग॑दस्त॒स्थुष॑श्च ॥

The wonderful countenance of the gods has arisen, the eye of Mitra, Varuna, and Agni. The Sun has filled the heavens, the earth, and the space between, becoming the very soul of all that is moving and stationary.
ओ-म्मित्रस्येत्यादि चतुर्णाम्, विश्वामित्र ऋषिः, लिङ्गोक्ता देवताः, गायत्री बृहत्यनुष्टुप् धृतयश्छन्दांसि, सूर्योपस्थाने विनियोगः ।
ओ-म्मि॒त्रस्य॑ चर्षणी॒ दृतोवो॑ दे॒वस्य॑सान॒सि द्यु॒म्न-ञ्चि॒त्र स्र॑वस्तमम् ॥
May we obtain the glorious, wonderful, and most renowned effulgence of the Divine Sun, who is the sustainer of all mankind.
ओ-न्दे॒वस्त्वा॑ सवि॒तोद्व॑पतु सुपा॒णिस्स्व॑ज्गु॒रिस्सु॑ बा॒हुरु॒तशक्त्या॑ । अव्य॑थमाना पृथि॒व्या माशा॒दिश॒ आपृ॑ण ॥
May the Divine Savitr, with His beautiful hands, benevolent grace, and mighty arms, establish you. May you stand firm upon the earth and fill all the quarters of the world with your presence.
ॐ उ॒त्थाय॑ बृह॒ती भ॒वो दु॑त्तिष्ठध्रु॒वात्वम् । मित्रै॒तान्त॑ उ॒खा-म्परि॑ददा॒म्यभि॑त्या ए॒षा माभे॑दि ॥
O Goddess (Ukha), rise up and become firm and great. O Mitra, I entrust this vessel unto you; may it remain whole and unharmed.
ॐ-वँस॑व॒स्त्वा छृ॑न्दन्तु गाय॒त्रेण॒ छन्द॑साज्गिर॒स्व द्रु॒द्रास्त्वा छृ॑न्दन्तु॒ त्रैष्टु॑भेन॒ छन्द॑साज्गिर॒स्वत् ।
May the Vasus bless you with the Gayatri meter; may the Rudras bless you with the Trishtubh meter.
आ॒दि॒त्यास्त्वा छृ॑न्दन्तु॒ जाग॑तेन॒ छन्द॑साज्गिर॒स्व द्विश्वे॑त्वा दे॒वावै॑श्वान॒रा आछृ॑न्द॒न्त्वानु॑ष्टुभेन॒ छन्द॑साज्गिर॒स्वत् ॥

May the Adityas bless you with the Jagati meter; may all the gods, the Vaisvanaras, bless you with the Anushtubh meter.
उद्वयमुदित्यमितिद्वयो, प्रस्कण्व ऋषिः, सविता देवता, प्रथमस्यानुष्टुप्छन्दः, द्वितीयस्य गायत्री छन्दः,
For the two verses beginning with "Udvayam" and "Uditya," the seer is Praskanva and the deity is Savitr; the first is in the Anushtubh meter and the second is in the Gayatri meter.
चित्र-न्देवानामित्यस्य, कुत्स ऋषिः, सविता देवता, त्रिष्टुप्छन्दः, तच्चक्षुरित्यस्य, दध्यङ्गाथर्वण ऋषिः, सूर्यो देवता, पङ्क्तिश्छन्दः, सूर्योपस्थाने विनियोगः ॥
ॐ उद्व॒य-न्तम॑स॒स्परि॒स्वः॒ पश्य॑न्त॒ उत्त॑रम् ।
For the verse beginning with "Chitram," the seer is Kutsa and the deity is Savitr, in the Trishtubh meter; for the verse beginning with "Tatchakshuh," the seer is Dadhyan Atharvana and the deity is Surya, in the Pankti meter; these are employed for the worship of the Sun. We gaze upon the supreme light beyond the darkness.
दे॒व-न्दे॑व॒त्रा सूर्य॒ मग॑न्म॒ ज्योति॑रुत्त॒मम् ॥
We have reached the supreme light, the god among gods, the Sun.
ॐ उदु॒त्य-ञ्जा॒तवे॑दस-न्दे॒वं-वँ॑हन्ति के॒तवः॑ ।
The rays of light bear upward the divine Sun, the knower of all beings.
दृ॒शे विश्वा॑य॒ सूर्य॑म् ॥
So that all may behold the Sun.
ओ-ञ्चि॒त्र-न्दे॒वाना॒मुद॑गा॒दनी॑क॒-ञ्चक्षु॑र्मि॒त्रस्य॒ वरु॑णस्या॒ग्नेः ।
The radiant face of the gods has arisen, the eye of Mitra, Varuna, and Agni.
आप्रा॒द्यावा॑ पृथि॒वी अ॒न्तरि॑क्ष॒ग्॒ सूर्य॑ आ॒त्मा ज॑गदस्त॒स्थुष॑श्च ॥
The Sun has filled the heaven, the earth, and the intermediate space; He is the soul of all that moves and all that is stationary.
ओ-न्तच्चक्षु॑र्दे॒वहि॑त-म्पु॒रस्ता॑च्छु॒क्र मु॒च्चर॑त् ।
That divine eye, set by the gods, rises in the East, pure and brilliant.
पश्ये॒म श॒रद॑श्श॒त-ञ्जीवे॑म श॒रद॑श्श॒तग् शृणु॑याम श॒रद॑श्श॒तम् ॥

May we see for a hundred autumns, may we live for a hundred autumns, and may we hear for a hundred autumns.
इम-म्मे वरुण तत्वायामीत्यनयोश्शुनश्शेफ ऋषिः, वरुणो देवता, गायत्री त्रिष्टुभौ छन्दसि, सूर्योपस्धाने विनियोगः ॥

O Varuna, listen to this call of mine and show me mercy today; I approach You, seeking Your protection.

O Varuna, I approach You with prayers and praise; the worshiper seeks You through these offerings.
अहे॑लमानो वरुणे॒ हबो॒ध्युरु॑शग्ं स॒ मा न॒ आयुः॒ प्रमो॑षीः ॥

O Varuna, do not be angry with me; be mindful of me, for I am Your devotee. Do not let my lifespan be shortened.

May those who are spirits and demons, who are burdens upon the earth, depart.

गा॒यत्र्या गायत्री छन्दो विश्वामित्र ऋषि-स्सविता देवता अग्निर्मुख-म्ब्रह्माशिरः विष्णुर्हृदयग्ं रुद्रश्शिखा पृथिवी योनिः प्राणापानव्यानोदान समानास्सप्राणा-श्श्वेतवर्णा साङ्ख्यायन सगोत्रा गायत्री चतुर्विग्ंशत्यक्षरा त्रिपदा॑ षट्कु॒क्षिः॒ पञ्चशीर्षोपनयने वि॑नियो॒गः॒ ॥
आयात्वित्यनुवाकस्य, वामदेव ऋषिः, गायत्री देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, गायत्र्यावाहने विनियोगः ॥
Without causing harm to any living being, I shall commence my spiritual duties. On this auspicious day, defined by the aforementioned qualities, I will perform the Japa of the Gayatri Mantra, which is the essential limb of my morning/midday/evening prayers, to the best of my ability. I invoke the presence of Gayatri, Savitri, Saraswati, the Rishis of the Vedas, and the Divine Mother of Prosperity. You are the essence of vitality, strength, power, and radiance; You are the abode of the gods and the totality of the universe. I invoke Gayatri, Savitri, Saraswati, the seers of the hymns, and the goddess of fortune. The Gayatri has Gayatri as its meter, Vishvamitra as its seer, and Savita as its deity. Agni is its mouth, Brahma its head, Vishnu its heart, Rudra its crest, and the Earth its origin. It contains the vital breaths, is white in color, and consists of twenty-four syllables, three feet, six sides, and five heads. I invoke the goddess who comes to bestow boons, who is the embodiment of the imperishable Brahman.
ॐ आया॑तु॒ वर॑दा दे॒वी॒ अ॒क्षर॑-म्ब्रह्म॒ सम्मि॑तम् ।
May the Goddess, the bestower of boons, arrive—She who is the manifestation of the imperishable Brahman.
गा॒य॒त्री॑-ञ्छन्द॑सा-म्मा॒ते॒द-म्ब्र॑ह्म जु॒षस्व॑ नः ।
तेजो-ऽसीत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, प्रजापति ऋषिः, सौवर्ण-न्निष्क-न्देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, गायत्र्यावाहने विनियोगः ॥
O Mother of the Vedas, accept this prayer offered by us.
ओ-न्तेजो॑-ऽसि शु॒क्रम॒मृत॑मायु॒ष्पा आयु॑र्मेपाहि ।
You are the essence of light, pure and immortal; You are the protector of life, please preserve my life.
दे॒वस्य॑त्वा सवि॒तुः प्र॑स॒वे॒-ऽश्विनो॑र्बा॒हुभ्या॑-म्पू॒ष्णो हस्ता॑भ्या॒माद॑धे ॥

गायत्र्यस्येकपदी द्विपदी त्रिपदी चतुष्पद्य पदसि न हि पद्यसे ।
By the command of the Divine Savitr, and by the arms of the Ashvins and the hands of Pushan, I invoke You. O Gayatri, You are one-footed, two-footed, three-footed, and four-footed; You are the path itself, for You never leave those who walk upon You.
नमस्ते तुरीयाय दर्शताय पदाय परोरजसेसावदो मा प्रापत् ।

Salutations to the Fourth, the visible, the transcendental state beyond the dust of creation; may that [divine light] reach me.
प्रात-स्सन्ध्या, गायत्री नामा, रक्तवर्णा, हंसवाहना, ब्रह्महृदया, बाल रूपा, आवहनीयाग्निरूपस्थाना, भूरायतना, जाग्रद्वद्धृतिः, प्रातस्सवने ऋग्वेदे विनियोगः ।
(मध्याह्न काले)
The morning meditation is named Gayatri, of red complexion, mounted on a swan, residing in the heart of Brahma, appearing as a young maiden, presiding over the Ahavaniya fire, centered in the Earth, associated with the waking state, and practiced during the morning session with the Rig Veda.
माध्याह्निक सन्ध्या, सावित्री नामा, श्वेतवर्णा, वृषभ वाहना, रुद्रहृदया, यव्वन रूपा, गार्हपत्याग्निरूपस्थाना, अन्तरिक्षायतना, स्वप्नवद्धृतिः, माध्याह्निक सवने यजुर्वेदे विनियोगः ।

The midday meditation is named Savitri, of white complexion, mounted on a bull, residing in the heart of Rudra, appearing as a youth, presiding over the Garhapatya fire, centered in the mid-region (atmosphere), associated with the dream state, and practiced during the midday session with the Yajur Veda.
सायं सन्ध्या, सरस्वती नामा, कृष्णवर्णा, गरुड वाहना, विष्णु हृदया, वृद्धरूपा, दक्षिणाग्निरूपस्थाना, द्यौरायतना, सुषुप्तिवद्धृतिः, सायंसवने सामवेदे विनियोगः ।

The evening meditation is named Saraswati, of black complexion, mounted on Garuda, residing in the heart of Vishnu, appearing in elderly form, presiding over the Dakshina fire, centered in the celestial realm, associated with the deep sleep state, and practiced during the evening session with the Sama Veda.
आगच्छ वरदे देवि जपे मे सन्निधौ भव ।
O bestower of boons, O Goddess, come forth and remain present during my prayer.
गायन्त-न्त्रायसे यस्माद्गायत्री त्वमुदाहृता ॥
न्यासम् ॥
Because you protect those who sing your praise, you are known as Gayatri.
ओ-म्भुवरिति जङ्घयोः ।
Om Bhuvah, in the calves.
ओग्ग्ं स्वरिति जान्वोः ।
ओ-म्मह इति जठरे ।
Om Mahah, in the abdomen.
ओ-ञ्जन इति कण्ठे ।
Om, may there be clarity (anjanam) in the throat.
ओ-न्तप इति मुखे ।
Om, may there be warmth (tapah) in the mouth.
ओग्ग्ं सत्यमिति शिरसि ।
ओ-म्भूः अङ्गुष्ठाभ्या-न्नमः ।
Om, may Truth (satyam) reside in the head. Om, Bhuh, salutations to the thumbs.
ओ-म्भुवः तर्जनीभ्या-न्नमः ।
Om, Bhuvah, salutations to the index fingers.
ओग्ं स्वः मध्यमाभ्या-न्नमः ।
Om, Svah, salutations to the middle fingers.

Om, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat, salutations to the palms and backs of the hands. Om, Bhuh, salutations to the heart.
ओ-म्भुव-श्शिरसे स्वाहा ।
Om, Bhuvah, svaha to the head.
ओग्ं स्व-श्शिखायै वषट् ।
Om, Svah, vashat to the tuft of hair (shikha).
ओ-न्तत्सवितुर्वरेण्य-ङ्कवचाय हुम् ।
Om. That adorable effulgence of Savitr; for the protection of my armor, Hum.
ओ-म्भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।
Om. We meditate upon that divine light; for the protection of my three eyes, Vausat.
ओ-न्धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् अस्त्राय फट् ।
Om. May He inspire our intellects; for the protection of the weapon, Phat.
ओ-म्भूर्भवस्स्वरोमिति दिग्बन्धः ।
गायत्री ध्यानम् ॥
Om. Bhuh, Bhuvah, Svah; thus, I seal the directions. Meditation on the Gayatri.
मुक्ताविद्रुमहेमनीलधवल-च्छायैर्मुखैस्त्रीक्षणैः ।
I meditate upon the Goddess whose five faces possess the luster of pearls, coral, gold, sapphire, and white, and who is endowed with three eyes.
युक्तामिन्दुनिबद्धरत्नमकुटा-न्तत्त्वार्थ वर्णात्मिकाम् ॥
I meditate upon Her whose head is adorned with a crown of jewels embedded with the moon, and who is the embodiment of the essence of truth and the alphabet.
गायत्रीं-वँरदा-ऽभया-ऽङ्कुश कशाश्शुभ्र-ङ्कपाल-ङ्गदाम् ।
I meditate upon the Gayatri, who holds in Her hands the gesture of granting boons and removing fear, as well as the goad, the whip, and a white skull.
शङ्ख-ञ्चक्रमथा-ऽरविन्दयुगलं हस्तैर्वहन्ती-म्भजे ॥
लमित्यादि पञ्चपूजा ॥
I worship Her who carries the conch, the discus, and a pair of lotus flowers in Her hands. The five-fold worship beginning with 'Lam'.
ल-म्पृथिवीतत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायै नमः ।
Lam. Salutations to the Gayatri deity, whose essence is the Earth element.
गन्ध-म्परिकल्पयामि ॥
I offer the fragrant sandal paste to the Goddess.
हं आकाशतत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायै नमः ।
Salutations to the Goddess Gayatri, who is the embodiment of the ether element (Akasha).
पुष्प-म्परिकल्पयामि ॥
I offer flowers unto You.
यं-वाँयुतत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायै नमः ।
Salutations to the Goddess Gayatri, who is the embodiment of the air element (Vayu).
धूप-म्परिकल्पयामि ॥
I offer incense unto You.
रं-वँह्नितत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायै नमः ।
Salutations to the Goddess Gayatri, who is the embodiment of the fire element (Agni).
दीप-म्परिकल्पयामि ॥
I offer the lamp unto You.
वं अमृततत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायै नमः ।
Salutations to the Goddess Gayatri, who is the embodiment of the nectar/water element (Amrita).
नैवेद्य-म्परिकल्पयामि ॥
I offer food offerings (Naivedyam) unto You.
सं सर्वतत्त्वात्मिकायै गायत्री देवतायैनमः ।
Salutations to the Goddess Gayatri, who is the embodiment of all elements (Sarva-tattva).
सर्वोपचारा-न्परिकल्पयामि॥
प्रणवस्य परब्रह्म ऋषिः, परमात्मा देवता, दैवी गायत्री छन्दः ।
I offer all services unto You. For the Pranava (Om), the Rishi is Parabrahman, the deity is the Supreme Self (Paramatma), and the meter is the divine Gayatri.
भूर्भुवस्स्वरिति महाव्याहृतीना-म्परमेष्ठी प्रजापति ऋषिः, अग्नि-वायु-सूर्या देवताः, गायत्र्युष्णिगनुष्टु-प्छन्दांसि ।
For the great utterances (Mahavyahritis) starting with Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Svah, the Rishi is Parameshthi Prajapati; the presiding deities are Agni, Vayu, and Surya; and the meters are Gayatri, Ushnih, and Anushtup.
गायत्र्या विश्वामित्र ऋषिः, सविता देवता, गायत्री छन्दः ।
गायत्री मुद्रलु ॥
सुमुखं सम्पुट-ञ्चैव विततं-विँस्तृत-न्तथा ।
For the Gayatri mantra, the Rishi is Vishvamitra, the presiding deity is Savitr, and the meter is Gayatri. The Mudras (hand gestures) are as follows: Sumukha, Samputa, Vitata, and Vistrita.
द्विमुख-न्त्रिमुख-ञ्चैव चतुः पञ्चमुख-न्तथा ॥
Dvimukha, Trimukha, Chaturmukha, and Panchamukha.
षण्मुखो-ऽधोमुख-ञ्चैव व्यापिकाञ्जलिक-न्तथा ।
Shanmukha, Adhomukha, Vyapikanjalika.
शकटं-यँमपाश-ञ्च ग्रथितं सम्मुखोन्मुखम् ॥
Shakata, Yamapasha, Grathita, and Sammukhonmukha.
प्रलम्ब-म्मुष्टिक-ञ्चैव मत्स्यः कूर्मो वराहकम् ।
Pralamba, Mushtika, Matsya, Kurma, and Varahaka.
सिंहाक्रान्त-म्महाक्रान्त-म्मुद्गर-म्पल्लव-न्तथा ॥
गायत्री मन्त्रम् ॥
Simhakranta, Mahakranta, Mudgara, and Pallava. These are the Gayatri Mudras.
ओ-म्भूर्भुव॒स्स्वः॑ । तत्स॑वि॒तुर्वरे॑ण्य॒-म्भर्गो॑ दे॒वस्य॑ धीमहि ।
Om. We meditate upon the supreme, adorable radiance of the Divine Sun, who created the physical, subtle, and causal realms.
धियो॒ यो नः॑ प्रचो॒दया॑त् ॥
॥ मन्त्र जपावसानम् ॥
पूर्वोक्त एव-ङ्गुण विशेषण विशिष्टायां शुभ तिथौ गायत्री जपोपसंहार-ङ्करिष्ये ।
अस्य श्री गायत्री महामन्त्रस्य, विश्वामित्र ऋषिः, सविता देवता, गायत्री छन्दः, मम जपोपसंहारे विनियोगः ।
ओ-म्भूरिति पादयोः ।
May He inspire and guide our intellects. Upon concluding the mantra japa: On this auspicious day, endowed with all specified qualities, I perform the conclusion of the Gayatri Japa. For this great Gayatri Mantra, the Rishi is Vishvamitra, the deity is Savitr, the meter is Gayatri, and I utilize this for the conclusion of my Japa. Om Bhuh—I touch my feet.
ओ-म्भुवरिति जङ्घयोः ।
Om Bhuvah—I touch my shanks.
ओग्ग्ं स्वरिति जान्वोः ।
The syllable 'Om' dwells in the knees.
ओ-म्मह इति जठरे ।
The syllable 'Om' and 'Mah' dwell in the abdomen.
ओ-ञ्जन इति कण्ठे ।
The syllable 'Om' and 'Jan' dwell in the throat.
ओ-न्तप इति मुखे ।
The syllable 'Om' and 'Tap' dwell in the mouth.
ओग्ग्ं सत्यमिति शिरसि ।

Om. To the Supreme Being of the celestial realm, I offer this oblation for the protection of my crest (Shikha).
ओ-न्तत्सवितुर्वरेण्य-ङ्कवचाय हुम् ।
Om. "That adorable effulgence of Savitr" — I offer this oblation for the protection of my body (as if wearing armor).
ओ-म्भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि नेत्रत्रयाय वौषट् ।
Om. "We meditate upon the splendor of the Divine" — I offer this oblation to the three-eyed Lord (to protect my eyes).
ओ-न्धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् अस्त्राय फट् ।
Om. "Who may impel our intellects" — I offer this oblation as a weapon to ward off all obstacles.
भूर्भुवस्स्वरोमिति दिग्विमोकः ।
उत्तर मुद्रलु ॥
Om. Bhu, Bhuvah, Svah — thus I release the directions. (Perform the Uttara Mudras).
सुरभिः ज्ञान चक्रे च योनिः कूर्मो-ऽथ पङ्कजम् ।
Surabhi, Jnana, Chakra, Yoni, Kurma, and Pankaja.
लिङ्ग-न्निर्याण मुद्रा चेत्यष्टमुद्राः प्रकीर्तिताः ।
॥ गायत्री तर्पणम् ॥
Linga and Niryan are the eight mudras proclaimed. (Gayatri Tarpana).
पूर्वोक्त एव-ङ्गुण विशेषण विशिष्ठायां शुभ तिथौ सवितृप्रीति योगाय गायत्री तर्पणमह-ङ्करिष्ये ।
ऋषिर्व्यास-स्समुद्दिष्टो ब्रह्मादैव तमुच्यते ।
On this auspicious day, endowed with all the specified qualities, for the sake of propitiating Lord Savitr, I shall perform the Gayatri Tarpana. Sage Vyasa is declared the Rishi, and Brahma is declared the presiding deity.
छन्दो गायत्रक-ञ्चैव विनियोगस्तु तर्पणे ॥
ओ-म्भूः पुरुष ऋग्वेदस्तृप्यताम्
The meter is Gayatri, and it is employed for the purpose of Tarpana. Om. Bhu, the Cosmic Being, the Rig Veda, may He be satisfied.
ओ-म्भुवः पुरुष यजुर्वेदस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Bhuvar Loka and the Yajurveda be satisfied.
ओग्ग्ं स्वः पुरुष सामवेदस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Svar Loka and the Samaveda be satisfied.
ओ-म्महः पुरुष अथर्वणवेदस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Maharloka and the Atharvaveda be satisfied.
ओ-ञ्जनः पुरुष इतिहासपुराणस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Janaloka and the Itihasa-Puranas be satisfied.
ओ-न्तपः पुरुष सर्वागमस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Tapoloka and all the Agamas be satisfied.
ॐ सत्य-म्पुरुष सत्यलोकस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being presiding over the Satyaloka be satisfied.
ओ-म्भूर्भुव-स्स्वः पुरुष मण्डलान्तर्गतस्तृप्यताम्
Om, may the Supreme Being who resides within the solar orb, governing the three worlds of Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Svah, be satisfied.
ओ-म्भूरेकपदा गायत्री तृप्यताम्
Om, may the one-footed Gayatri, associated with the Bhuh Loka, be satisfied.
ओ-म्भुवः द्विपदा गायत्री तृप्यताम्
Om, may the two-footed Gayatri, associated with the Bhuvah Loka, be satisfied.
ओग्ं स्वः त्रिपदा गायत्री तृप्यताम्
Om, may the three-footed Gayatri, associated with the Svar Loka, be satisfied.
ओ-म्भूर्भुवस्स्व-श्चतुष्पदा गायत्री तृप्यताम्
Om. May the four-footed Gayatri, spanning the worlds of Bhuh, Bhuvah, and Svah, be satisfied.
ॐ उषस्तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess of the Dawn be satisfied.
ओ-ङ्गायत्री तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Gayatri be satisfied.
ॐ सावित्री तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Savitri be satisfied.
ॐ सरस्वती तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Saraswati be satisfied.
ॐ-वेँदमाता तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Mother of the Vedas be satisfied.
ओ-म्पृथिवी तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Earth Goddess be satisfied.
ओ-ञ्जया तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Jaya be satisfied.
ओ-ङ्कौशिकी तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Kaushiki be satisfied.
ॐ साङ्कृति तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Goddess Sankriti be satisfied.
ॐ सर्वापराजिता तृप्यताम्
Om. May the All-Invincible One be satisfied.
ॐ सहस्रमूर्तिस्तृप्यताम्
Om. May the Thousand-Formed One be satisfied.
ॐ आनन्दमूर्तिस्तृप्यताम् ।
॥ दिङ्नमस्कारः ॥
ओ-म्प्राच्यै दिशे नमः । इन्द्राय नमः ।
Om. May the Bliss-Formed One be satisfied.
Salutations to the directions:
Om. Salutations to the Eastern direction. Salutations to Indra.
ॐ आग्नेयै दिशे नमः । अग्नये नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the South-Eastern direction. Salutations to Agni.
ओ-न्दक्षिणायै दिशे नमः । यमाय नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the Southern direction. Salutations to Yama.
ओ-न्नैर्-ऋत्यै दिशे नमः । निर्-ऋतये नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the South-Western direction. Salutations to Nirrti.
ओ-म्प्रतीच्यै दिशे नमः । वरुणाय नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the Western direction. Salutations to Varuna.
ॐ-वाँयुव्यै दिशे नमः । वायवे नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the North-Western direction. Salutations to Vayu.
ॐ उदीच्यै दिशे नमः । कुबेराय नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the Northern direction. Salutations to Kubera.

Om. Salutations to the North-Eastern direction. Salutations to Ishvara.
ॐ ऊर्ध्वायै दिशे नमः । ब्रह्मणे नमः ।
Om. Salutations to the upward direction. Salutations to Brahman.
ॐ अधरायै दिशे नमः । अनन्ताय नमः ।
ॐ सन्ध्यायै नमः
Om. Salutations to the downward direction. Salutations to the Infinite (Ananta).
Om. Salutations to the twilight (Sandhya).
ओ-ङ्गायत्र्यै नमः
Om. Salutations to the Gayatri.
ॐ सावित्र्यै नमः
Om. Salutations to the Savitri.
ॐ सरस्वत्यै नमः
Om. Salutations to the Sarasvati.

Om. Salutations to all the deities.

Om. Salutations to the sages (Rishis).

Om. Salutations to the silent contemplatives (Munis).

Om. Salutations to the teachers (Gurus).
ओ-म्पितृभ्यो नमः
Om, salutations to the ancestors.
ओ-म्मातृभ्यो नमः
Om, salutations to the mothers.
ओ-न्नमो नमः इति ।
॥ उद्वासनम् ॥
उत्तमेत्यनुवाकस्य, वामदेव ऋषिः, गायत्री देवता, अनुष्टु-प्छन्दः, उद्वासने विनियोगः ॥
Om, salutations, salutations. The ritual of Udvasana (formal conclusion). For the verse starting with "Uttame," Vamadeva is the seer, Gayatri is the deity, Anushtubh is the meter, and it is used for the ritual departure.
ॐ उ॒त्तमे॑ शिख॑रे देवी भू॒म्या-म्प॑र्वत॒मूर्ध॑नि ।
Om, O Goddess, who resides on the highest peak, upon the summit of the mountain of the Earth.
ब्राह्मणे॑भ्यो-ऽभ्य॑नुज्ञा॒ता॒ ग॒च्छ दे॑वि य॒था सु॑खम् ॥
॥जप निवेदनम् ॥
देवा गातु विद इत्यस्य मन्त्रस्य, मनसस्पत ऋषिः, वातो देवता, विराट् छन्दः, जपनिवेदने विनियोगः॥
Having received permission from the Brahmanas, O Goddess, may you depart as you please. The ritual of Japa Nivedanam (offering the meditation). For the mantra "Deva gatu," Manasaspati is the seer, Vata is the deity, Virat is the meter, and it is used for offering the Japa.
ओ-न्देवा॑गातु विदोगा॒तु मि॒त्वागा॒तु मि॑त ।
Om, O Gods, who know the path, knowing the path, proceed along the path.
मन॑सस्पत इ॒म-न्दे॑व य॒ज्ञग्ग् स्वाहा॒ वाते॑थाः ॥
(प्रातः काले)
O Lord of the Mind, convey this prayer of ours, O Divine One, to the gods, and bestow it upon the wind.
प्रातस्सन्ध्याङ्ग भूतेन गायत्र्यास्तु जपेन च ।
Through the Japa of the Gayatri, which is an integral part of the morning Sandhya.
सा-ऽष्टेन शत सङ्ख्येन ब्रह्म मे प्रियतां रविः ॥
(मध्याह्न काले)
By this offering of one hundred and eight counts, may the Supreme Lord (Sun) be pleased with my spiritual practice.
मध्याह्न सन्ध्याङ्गत्वेन गायत्र्या जपितेन च ।
Through the Japa of the Gayatri, which is an integral part of the midday Sandhya.
यथा सङ्ख्येन जपेन रुद्रो मे प्रियतां रविः ॥
(साय-ङ्काले)
May the Sun (Savitr/Ravi), who is identical to Rudra, be pleased with this rhythmic chanting of His name. (At the time of dusk).
सायं सन्ध्याङ्ग भूतेन गायत्र्यास्तु जपेन च ।
By the chanting of the Gayatri mantra, which is the essential limb of the evening twilight prayers.
सा-ऽष्टेन शत सङ्ख्येन ब्रह्म मे प्रियतां रविः ॥
॥ प्रवर ॥
प्रवरलु चू. ॥
चतुस्सागर पर्यन्त-ङ्गोब्राह्मणेभ्य-श्शुभ-म्भवतु । ………. प्रवरान्वित ………… गोत्र-श्शुक्ल यजुर्वेदान्तर्गत काण्व शाखाध्यायी कात्यायन सूत्रः ………. शर्मा-ऽह-म्भो अभिवादये ॥
समर्पणम् ।
May the Supreme Brahman (the Sun) be pleased with this chanting of one hundred and eight repetitions. (Followed by the proclamation of lineage): May there be auspiciousness to all Brahmins up to the four oceans. I, who belong to the lineage of [Gotra], a student of the Kanva branch of the Shukla Yajurveda, following the Katyayana Sutras, and named [Name] Sharma, offer my respectful salutations. (Offering).
आसत्यलोकात्पाताला-दालोकालोकपर्वतात् ।
From the world of Brahma (Satyaloka) down to the netherworlds (Patala), and extending to the Lokaloka mountains.
ये सन्ति ब्राह्मणादेवास्तेभ्यो नित्य-न्नमो नमः ॥
विष्णुपत्नीसमुद्भूते शङ्खवर्णे महीतले ।
To all those who are divine-like Brahmins residing therein, I offer my constant and repeated salutations. O Goddess Earth, born from the consort of Vishnu, white-colored like a conch, upon this terrestrial plane.
अनेकरत्नसम्पन्ने भूमिदेवि नमो-ऽस्तु ते ॥
O Goddess Earth, who is adorned with countless jewels, I offer my salutations to You.
समुद्रवसने देवि पर्वतस्तनमण्डले ।
O Goddess who is clothed by the oceans and adorned with mountains as your breasts.
विष्णुपत्नी नमस्तुभ्य-म्पादस्पर्श-ङ्क्षमस्व मे ॥
O Consort of Lord Vishnu, I bow to You; please forgive me for touching you with my feet.
