ନଵଗ୍ରହ କଵଚମ୍

May Martanda (the Sun) protect my head, and the Lord of Rohini (the Moon) protect my cranium. May Angaraka (Mars) protect my face, and Shashinandana (Mercury) protect my throat.

May Jiva (Jupiter) always protect my intellect, and Bhrigunandana (Venus) protect my heart. May Shani (Saturn) protect my abdomen, and Ditinandana (Rahu) protect my tongue.

May Ketu always protect my feet, and may the days of the week protect all my limbs. May the lunar days (tithis) and the eight directions protect me, and may the constellations always protect my body.

May the zodiac signs always protect my shoulders, and may the Yogas ensure my stability. May all the auspicious planets always protect my private parts.

Whoever reads this protective hymn with devotion, self-control, and wisdom, shall attain all the divine powers, such as Anima (the power to become infinitely small).

That person will enjoy a long life, happiness, and progeny, and will be victorious in battle. Those who are childless will gain children, and those who desire wealth will attain it.

Those who desire a spouse will obtain a beautiful and charming partner. The sick will be liberated from disease, and those bound in chains will be freed from their confinement.

For one who wears this daily, whether on water, land, in the sky, or especially in a prison, there shall be no fear.

By wearing this Kavacham, one is liberated from all sins, including the killing of a Brahmin, consumption of alcohol, theft, and adultery with the preceptor’s wife.

A woman who wears this on her left arm will be endowed with happiness and prosperity. Through the grace of this Kavacham, a woman who is unable to conceive, who loses her children, or who has only one child, will be blessed with many healthy offspring.
