દદિશઙ્ખ તુષારાભં ક્ષીરાર્ણવ સમુદ્ભવમ્ ।
નમામિ શશિનં સોમં શમ્ભોર્મકુટ ભૂષણમ્ ॥ 1 ॥
I bow to Chandra, who possesses the radiance of curd, a conch, and frost; who emerged from the Ocean of Milk; who is the nectar-rayed Moon; and who serves as the crest-jewel adorning Lord Shiva’s head.
કલાધરઃ કાલહેતુઃ કામકૃત્કામદાયકઃ ।
દશાશ્વરધ સંરૂઢ દણ્ડપાણિર્થનુર્ધરઃ ॥ 2 ॥
He is the bearer of digits, the cause of time, the creator of desires, and the fulfiller of wishes; he travels upon a chariot drawn by ten horses and carries a staff and a bow.
ચન્દ્રારિષ્ટેતુ સમ્પ્રાપ્તે ચન્દ્ર પૂજાઞ્ચ કારયેત્ ।
ચન્દ્રધ્યાનં વ્રપક્ષ્યામિ મનઃ પીડોશાન્તયે ॥ 3 ॥
When the ill effects of the Moon are experienced, one should perform worship of the Moon; I shall now recite the meditation upon Chandra to pacify the afflictions of the mind.
કુન્દપુષ્પોજ્જલાકારો નયનાજ્જ સમુદ્ભવઃ ।
ઔદુમ્બર નગાવાસ ઉદારો રોહિણીપતિઃ ॥ 4 ॥
His form is as bright as the jasmine flower, he was born from the eye of the Cosmic Being, he resides in the Udumbara tree, he is generous, and he is the beloved lord of Rohini.
શ્વેત માલ્યામ્બરધરં શ્વેતગન્દાનુલેપનમ્ ।
શ્વેતચ્છત્ર ધરં દેવં તં સોમં પ્રણમામ્યહમ્ ॥ 5 ॥
I bow to that divine Moon god, who is adorned with white garlands and garments, anointed with white sandalwood paste, and who carries a white parasol.
